Iva….and my fee

Hello,

I have a question: when working with an Italian customer (I am in Italy), who pays for IVA? Is it "included" in my fee (therefore a 20% for Upwork fee plus a 22% (IVA) plus eventual other fees will be deducted from it) or the client will have to pay an additional 22% on my fee (and I will only have to pay Upwork fees...)?
Thank you.

Milena

One thing is for sure: you are not allowed to send money directly to any client.

Clients are responsible for their own taxes. Freelancers are responsible for their own taxes.

Hello,

I probably did not explain myself properly. My question is: is IVA included in my fee (therefore I will make 22% less) or is IVA charged to the customer when he/she/they will be billed by Upwork.

I have been on Upwork for over a decade, but never worked with a customer from my own country.
