So I had 100% JSS. Now it dropped to 90% in one day. According to Support it is because negative feedback. Well, I receive 5 stars reviews, never leave jobs unfinished, unpaid, files not delivered, unanswered etc. Support says it's because of private feedback. So - this is so unfair it leaves me speechless! Either let me view this private feedback or remove this thing like entirely from Upwork! How am I supposed to improve if I have only public feedback visible and this can obviously differ from private? Client gives me 5 stars in public, then 1 star in private and it all counts to JSS = unfair. What the heck is going on in this world? No matter how hard I work there is always something bad, trust me, I have only freelance and JSS IS important to me. I'm literally crying helplessly now.

Can you guess which contract it was? It would have dropped on Sunday, which was when it was updated.
If yes, use your top rated perk and have its impact removed from you calculation. (If you haven't used the perk in the last 3 months / 10 contracts,
Check which job closed in the 2 weeks since the last updates (if you are sure it was 100% before.)
What is your "private JSS" - the "clients who would recommend" percentage on your My Stats page?
Also - are there any jobs that have been open for months and nothing was >EVER< paid on them, or closed without payment or fully refunded lately?

No idea which contract. How can I check it? I would love to hide it and have it no impact if I knew which contract it was.
I have 76% clients that would recommend me but it was like that since the first day I got 100% JSS, nothing changed as I am checking it daily. Also there are no jobs with negative output for last 2 weeks. There was one job that client was inactive but everything was paid and no refunds were ever issued to this client, he closed the job today.
There are no jobs with no activity nor refunded nor not paid. I seriously am astonished as to how it all works as I believe it works strongly against freelancers because no matter my jobs, I still can get punished for whatever.

Calm down.
Look at the contract(s) that closed between the 11th and the 25th of November. There can't be many.
The contract that closed today can't have done it, that won't factor until the next Update.

Will check it. I doubt the client that closed the contract today will leave feedback, wonder if this affects my JSS and make it drop even more. Guess I need to wait and see, this whole thing made me now willing to go deeper in this system as I see many inconsistencies.
Thank you for help so far.
If the client closed the contract, the client has to leave feedback.

There are two contracts closed between Nov 11 and 25. Both 5 stars review. No idea what next except for waiting for... whatever.

One has really enthusiastic written feedback along with the 5 stars, one just has the stars.
My guess is it was the one that just left stars.

It was my guess also. And that's what makes me frustrated - there should be obligation to leave full feedback, not only stars. Or - forget about this JSS and all stuff. Rules should be clear or just give up any ratings, this way as is now it is confusing. And unfair.

Perhaps there should be no stars at all and only private feedback. Then, freelancers wouldn't complain about the unfairness between the two ratings.

I doubt Upwork will remove it. I guess they will do nothing and once again, no matter how hard I try, how hard I work (and I work 14 hours a day, 6 days a week, using up all of my bids and praying they would renew faster every month) - there may be one person that ruins it all just because they can put 5 stars in public and negative feedback in private. Long live hypocrisy. We are overall creating a very unfriendly world.

You can reopen your public feedback and allow the client to alter it. If you were to allow each of your most recent clients to alter their feedback and ask them to be fully honest perhaps they would change the star rating to reflect their honest review.

Hi,
In case a freelancer withdraws from a contract that is already in placed but hasn't started the project. Like when it turned out that the project all the while is not exactly like what was described in the Job description. In which case, when the freelancer withdraws becasue of that reason, can the client leave a private feedback? Take note that no payment was made because contract was then cancelled.
Thanks

Yes, the client can leave private feedback, and also bear in mind that contracts which close without anything ever having been paid and no feedback, will also affect your JSS negatively.
