Regarding the job application process, I searched yet did not find any recent writings about the client questions asked in addition to the requirement for a cover letter. Are those additional questions still a part of the job application process, or has that practice (i.e., beta / experiment) been discontinued?

The feature is still available and clients are welcome to add questions when they create a job posting. They can either use the templates or create their own job-specific questions. A lot of clients find this feature useful for defining how serious applicants are about the job and how attentively they read the job posting.
