Lost my Top Rated Plus badge today. Thanks, *edited* client.

I am devastated. My Top Rated Plus badge was stripped away from me today, and all because of a single long-term client's negative private feedback. Despite providing glowing public feedback, this client chose to end our contract, leaving me with a shattered reputation and a lost badge.

For months, I tirelessly worked with this client, editing more than 40 reports each week with the utmost care and attention to detail. Despite receiving only 2-3 dollars on average per report (2500 to 3000 words), I refused to budge because he was a kind client. Little did I know that my dedication would lead me down this road.

Although I wish this client's business well, I can't help but feel that **edited for Community Guidelines** are the bane of a South Asian freelancer's existence. They dismiss us South Asian freelancers, undervaluing our work and refusing to compensate us fairly. Worse still, they often resort to malicious behavior, causing harm either deliberately or inadvertently.

I urge all South Asian freelancers to seek out clients who are both kind and willing to treat you as an equal. Let's demand fair compensation for our hard work and unwavering dedication. We deserve what we're worth, nothing more.

Zainab,

Your Badge is visible on your Profile - I just checked. Clear your browser, cookies and cache. Have a great day!

It says on My Stats that I'm back to Top Rated, so does on my profile. I'm talking about Top Rated Plus badge, the pink one. I had it for a couple of months due to a large contract. ๐Ÿ˜•

Yes you have to maintain the Top Rated Plus badge as you mentioned with a large client every 12 months.

Yeah. But if you get a negative private feedback on a large contract, it will most definitely affect the JSS and your badge status. In my case, it took away my Plus badge. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Your visible JSS is 97% which wouldn't affect your badge.

Sure this isn't an issue that your large contract has been 12 months?

Yes, but it will get updated this Monday. I'm sure it'll drop. Considering this contract was my single most big one, my JSS would defo take a big dip.

An old contract dropping off after a year could affect on your JSS.

Hi WIlliam, and Zainab, I would like to make some clarifications here regarding the Job Success Score Calculation.

William, a contract dropping off the calculation may have an effect on a Job Success Score. Note that

the Upwork system takes snapshots of your 3-, 6-, 12- and 24-month history in the marketplace and calculates a score for each. The best score out of these moving time windows is the talent's JSS. In this article, it shows how four different Job Success Scores are calculated every two weeks:

  • Your average JSS during the past 24 months
  • Your average JSS during the past 12 months
  • Your average JSS during the past six months
  • And your โ€œTrending JSS,โ€ which we calculate by adding your average JSS for the past 6 months with your average JSS for the past 3 months, then divide in half.

Any movement in this score (either up or down) reflects both recent activity and activity over a longer period of time (up to 24 months).

Zainabyour JSS can change because:

- You receive poor public or private feedback from one or more clients.
- You receive positive public or private feedback from one or more clients.
- A higher-value job is added to your score and outweighs lower-value jobs.
- Jobs you completed in the past are no longer considered because they are outside the score's time frame.

I hope this clarifies things!

Sorry typo on my behalf; corrected.

But I'm not talking about JSS here. I'm talking about my Top Rated Plus badge being lost, even though it says I'm still eligible on ALL 3 areas. Find attached picture above.

I just hope it's a technical issue or a bug, and not the consequence of a possible negative feedback. It still marks me eligible on ALL areas in My Stats, yet it's not showing the badge.

You can use top rated perk to remove feedback if it broke your jss. Maybe it helps.

But client free to stop contract at any time. No violation here.

I don't know if that would help if you have only 1 5000+ large contract and that client ditched. I understand that they are not obligated to work with me forever, however there is this thing called moral uprightness. If you are going to give freelancers a great public feedback but BAD private feedback, what does this say? Purposely trying to hurt the business of freelancers, of course.

Thats im talking about.

Private feedback also removable with TR perk. Should be removable, at least Upwork say that. So you can fix it.

About TRP, im never reached it and don't worry so much. This just a funny bage, like TR. You will return it soon with new cool clients. Forgot and move forward.

I don't know if that would work. I'd appreciate if people could guide or back this. ๐Ÿ˜ž

But anyone from Upwork team won't answer you is this feedback affect or not. So your decide to remove it or not.

I just hope it's a technical issue or a glitch. I've opened up a ticket with Upwork for further clarification. I am still marked eligible on all 3 areas in My Stats, regardless of any negative feedback, it should show me what is for what it is.
