Messaging platform change affected my submitting a rersponse

Today I tried to submit a sample for potential job. Upwork altered the messaging which prevented me from submitting or even offering a text response.

when I discovered it on my own, it was 30 minutes late. I hope I still have the opportunity to get the job. But I am not happy I have received no upfront announcement of Upwork doing this.
