Migrate a previous client from your freelancer profile to your new agency

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone in the community or an Upwork agent might be able to advise.

I've started a new agency profile ( was previously only a freelancer).

How can I help a previous client to hire my agency rather than my freelancer profile?

You can just ask them to but bear in mind that you will have to restart on the whole 20%/10%/5% against $500/$10k earnings.

The Upwork Agency model (if it even deserves to be called that) is stunted.

Hi Dean,

The easiest way for your client to hire you through your agency is for you to change yourself to an exclusive agency member or to change set your agency as your default team.

To change from non-exclusive to exclusive, go to Settings › Members & Permissions.

Otherwise, you can set the agency as your default team by going to Settings › My Teams.

Once you have made the change, you can ask your client to hire you by using the "Hire Freelancer" button on your freelancer profile which will generate an offer through your agency.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Mike J.
