Hello all,
There is an issue i would like to discuss with everyone. A friend of mine had his account closed due to "Money Laundring" Report.
But in reality he just got paid through the work. He did the work outside the platform but for payment he asked his client to pay thorugh upwork so he can make his profile more visible. It back fired.
He contacted Support and submitted all the documents & screenshots they asked. But still no luck.
Is there any possible way to reopen his account?

If he was money laundering, that's not just against the terms of service - it's a felony. Getting paid via Upwork doesn't make illegal activities okay. There's no way that Upwork will reopen his account, and he won't be allowed to create a new one, either.

He wasn't He submitted everything they asked for and they told him that they will verify it by messaging the client and the client also submitted everything they asked for. Still no progress.

It would be pretty unlikely that Upwork would suspect your friend of a serious crime for absolutely no reason. There has to be more to the story than you're telling us.

I've read all his conversation with upwork and it was to the point with Proofs

there's basically a automatic system set up, if a client creates a contract, hires a freelancer, pays them and closes the contract in a few minutes time, the accounts gets flagged.

Well, I can certainly see why it would get flagged, especially as it was a new account.
Mujahid, what was the job, and for how much money? It sounds like your friend knew the client before joining Upwork, is that correct? Are they in the same location?

He is a Graphic Designer and Video editor. The job was to make a comercial ad for Real Estate Comapny.
And Yes he knew the client before joining the upwork and they where not in same location. The client was in Malyshia. They through my reference.
i think the only mistake he made was he didn't ask Help center before he told client to pay him through upwork.

I had this happen to me before when an outside client wasn't able to pay me directly and we quickly created an upwork contract. I had to talk to support for few weeks until one of the moderators helped. But I had a established and top rated account so they understood it was a false flag. But it might be hard if it's a new account. Just keep trying.

Brother the biggest issue he is facing right now is that, he is getting no response and he can't even send mail or create a ticket anymore.

I hope he sent all the screenshots of the communication and the final product to the support. The more data the bigger chance they will believe him. Did he have an old account?

His account was old ( 2-3 years old) but he only had one order on it.

Why did you call the title of this thread "Multiple accounts" - what has that got to do with money laundering? Does your friend have more than one Upwork account? Because that's also a reason for being permanently banned.

I asked him about same question. He said "Yes". but he also said that upwork told me the reason for account suspension is not multiple accounts. Your account is flagged as Money laundring.
