I'd say if it's different projects, you should put them in the portfolio as separate items. That's what I do, after all the purpose of a portfolio is to represent your skills and not the number of clients you're worked with I imagine that when the potential clients view your page, they will often just look through the covers of the portfolio items to get the general idea of what you're capable of, and not open each one of the items to dig deeper and search for more info/examples (unless they get particularly interested in something). So if you assemble multiple projects into one gallery, you are risking them not even being seen in most cases.
