My VAT number keeps getting rejected

I signed up a couple of days ago and the only thing that's missing on my profile is a VAT number.  Mine is verified by the VIES website, yet Upwork keeps rejecting it.  I have tried with and without the 2-character country code, with and without leading zero, nothing works.

Can I get human help to fix this, please ?  Thank you !
