My client agreed to adjust weekly limit but he closed the contract

Hi There,

My client agreed to adjust the weekly limit if needed at the beginning of the contract.

Later when the debugging period ended (5hr/week), and I started working more hours he agreed to adjust the time and kept staling till 90% of the job was done, then he close the contract.

He refused to pay me for the additional hours.

What can I do in this situation.

Hi, Mohammed Y.

Unless you can eventually talk the client into paying you for ALL of your work time, you are not going to be paid for the work time you did not track using TimeTracker.

Upwork's excellent hourly payment protection plan will only work for you if you follow the rules precisely. And in no case will Upwork offer protection on manually-entered work time. Clients are not obliged to pay for such time; the honest ones will, you were apparently working for a dishonest one.

I imagine most freelancers on Upwork have made a mistake or two in dealing with certain types of clients. The best we can do is learn the lesson of what doesn't work and not make the same mistake again.

Good luck!

re: "What can I do in this situation."

Nothing.

This is over.

The client does not owe you any money.

You don't need to work on this project any more.

re: "I was't paid for the extra hours I worked"

You will never be paid for those hours. You are only hurting yourself by hanging onto a desire for money you will never receive. You need to relinquish this desire completely in order to move on.

You worked past the maximum allowable hours per week. Freelancers do not get paid for time worked past the time limit. You knew that, yet you worked anyway. You worked for free.

I am sorry if this disappoints you. But these are the facts.
