My client has put my contract on hold, but we had previously agreed to end it due to my mother's upcoming surgery. I won't be able to continue working, as she will need my full attention.
I saw the notification that said, "John Smith paused this contract on Sep 24." What are the pros and cons for both me and the client in this situation?
It also states, "This contract is not yet eligible for feedback. You can request feedback on active contracts with payments beginning 30 days after the contract started. The feedback will appear on your profile and does not impact your Job Success Score."
I'm really concerned that whenever he decides to switch the contract from paused to terminated, he'll have the opportunity to leave negative feedback. I'm also worried about the possibility of receiving negative feedback since I couldn't complete the job due to my circumstances. I hope the client understands, but I can’t be certain.
I had previously mentioned that I wouldn’t accept payment as a gesture of gratitude for the learning experience over the past week. However, to be fair, the client deducted half of my salary last week. Now that I’ve received my payment, I want to fully refund him to prevent any negative feedback.

Any refund will eliminate the public feedback, but private feedback (either positive or negative) will remain intact and can/will affect your JSS. The only solution - negotiate.

Thank you Natasha. Can he end the contract while it's in pause status? If so, once he's allowed to leave feedback, how many days does he have to do so? Is there a specific timeline for when feedback should be submitted, or will it expire if he doesn't provide it in time?
