My friend account has been permanently suspended and his payment has been refunded to his client

Upwork emailed my friend something like this "We regret to inform you that your account has been permanently suspended and your payment has been refunded to your client."
in that explanation, how long does it take for Upwork to refund his client?

Get "your friend" to ask Upwork, as this is nothing to do with you. It is between "your friend" and Upwork. Upwork will not and are not allowed to give any information whatsoever at all to "a friend" of a freelancer for privacy reasons.

 

Generally, such processes take a few days and then the banking system may also take additional time
