Hello,
Client listed project as a less than 30 min for $15 flat rate, only requiremnet was basic computer skills. I applied and spent 8 connects, then when I was approved for the project I found out it was to click on the client's affilaite link to open a bank account with SoFi, deposit $10 and then once account was verified I'd get paid and get a glowing review. None of this was disclosed in the ad that the client posted.
I responded back to the client and declined the project, stating that I already have an account with the bank, and therefore I don't qualify for his project. Thanked him for his time, and now I would like my 8 connects refunded, as had the client been upfront about the project, I would not have applied and wasted my connects.
Any help with this/and or a full refund of my 8 connects would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

All you can do is flag it as fraudulent and hope enough other people do the same thing so that Upwork pays attention to it and removes the post.

Notify Upwork, and IF they rule in your favor and the client is a scammer, your connects will be returned. You have not wasted any connects. It's always a scam in these case, always. If you participated in any way, you won't get your connects returned.

Hi Arjay!
Thank you for your assistance and help in this matter. I did wonder if it was a scam, once I saw the requirements of the job (via the client's email to me) - which wasn't disclosed within the description of the job task.
Before I applied for the job, I looked to see if the client was payment verified, as well as looked at their reviews, to help protect myself from any scams - and both checked out, so I applied. Again, had I known this was an affiliate link to open a bank account, I would not have applied. So hopefully the UpWork investigative team will refund me my Connects.
Thank you again for your time in this matter, I look forward to learning the outcome of this issue.
Lisa
