How long does it typically take to receive responses to proposals? Will I be notified only through messages in UpWork? Or will I also receive an email?

Most clients never respond, and those who do may do so in minutes or take weeks. It's generally a good idea not to worry about it--just submit your bids and move on with your life.Don't try to hold time open in case something comes through; just keep bidding.

You will get an email notification when a client messages you, but they are not 100% reliable so if you're actively bidding, it's a good idea to check in.
