Hi everyone, I have recently come across an issue where clients that don't provide any feedback to freelancer result in a lower rating, despite the project being completed successfully. I think this is extremely unfair. I will just give you 3 examples where feedback is completely out of my control:
1. I have a running project with client and I can't get a reply from him for over a month. Which means that I will have to end the contract from my side, and there won't be any feedback provided. Why should that affect my rating?
2. I have an old client that forgot to leave a feedback. I contacted upwork support and asked if they can open a "window" for that client to leave a feedback for project that ended months ago. The client has tried to leave a feedback and rating multiple times but it still didn't go into the system for some reason, meaning there's still no rating despite the clients efforts. Why should upwork system error affect my rating?
3. Another client account has been blocked after the project has started, meaning the client can't affect our contract in any way or form, again no feedback can be provided for that project. Why on earth a blocked clients account should affect my rating?
In all of those cases I'm totally out of control regarding rating and feedback. The only thing I can do is to end the contract and mark it as - completed successfully. But here's the catch, if you have projects with no rating and feedback they drag your freelancer rating down, which is extremely unfair.
I know there's a rule where a feedback can be removed on request for top rated freelancers ONCE in 3 months and ONLY after 10 more contracts have ended. However, I think this shouldn't apply to examples I provided as this is something outside of our control and should be looked at individual basis.
At the moment I have ALL my projects COMPLETED successfully and yet my rating is 89% because of clients that don't leave feedback.

I am raising my hands with you Kirill.
Please Upwork, fix these issues to save freelancers reputation.
I have witnessed some profile. I saw some running jobs in those profiles which was started 3 to 5 years ago and still running. Freelancers are afraid to end those contracts because clients are unable to provide feedbacks. Because those clients disappared for some reason and never coming back. What can we do to save our JSS in this situation?

Because of clients that don't leave feedback?
Ok, here's what you can do to test this assession: Click here: My Stats and please tell us what Clients who would recommend you says.
See, this metric is from clients that have actually left a feedback. They were asked how likely they are to hire you again and their answer weights a lot into your JSS.
So what does it say?

Kirill - a few jobs here and there that have no feedback doesn't affect your JSS, unless you have quite a lot of them. 3 doesn't constatute a lot. You can close them one at a time, leaving a few jobs completed sucessfully between each.

If the client has not left feedback, how do you know that the contracts were completed successfully? Perhaps the client wasn't happy--you have no proof. You have at least two clients who did leave feedback that indicated less than 100% satisfaction. What makes you think those feedback entries aren't the reason for your current JSS?

Your "no feedback" contracts have nothing to do with your poor JSS.
The fact that your clients are leaving poor private feedback, however, does.
Take a look at your "clients who would recommend" percentage.
Anything in the seventies means a lot of your clients are a hell of a lot less happy than you think they are.

Absolute nonsense. Those contracts COULD be closed because as long as money has been paid they have no impact on the JSS unless the freelancer has way too many such contracts, in which case them being idle has the same impact as closed without feedback.

That means it's not gonna affect my JSS, right? My JSS can be affected by, only from provided feedback, right? If a client stays non responsive for long time and all the payments are done, is it okay to end the contract from freelancers end? Also, If a client provide feedback to me and If I stay non responsive, then it is going to show up in my profile after 14 days and affect my JSS, is it true? Or something else?
Thanks...

2) My JSS can be affected by, only from provided feedback, right?

1) If payment was made and you don't have a significant percentage of such contracts then no, it will not.
2) or contracts without payment, open (for a long time) as well as closed without feedback
3) Yes. Just don't close a whole bunch at once as that can create "a significant percentage" within the calculation window.
4) Yes and No. It will show on your profile after 14 days, but the effect on your JSS is more or less immediate and will show on the next update, even if the 14 days are not over.
