Hi,
So, one more time I have that kind of client:
1- pays very little
2- had to figure out what I had to do. Just that was worth the price I've been paid
3- very unresponsive client
4- doesn't know how to click a link (you heard me!)
5- doesn't know what a rar file is
6- Had to almost beg him to close the contract and let the feedback and after asking several times, he closes the contract (finally, congrats!!) but doesn't leave a feedback, not even stars.
As I wanted to see my great feedback, I gave him first the perfect feedback (totally false). So now I have some underlying questions:
1- can I change my feedback and tell the truth about the kind of client he is?
2- can something be done to oblige him to give a feedback?
3- does a lack of feedback hurt the JSS? => I've just paid a client mistake who thinks that A = A+B (just true if B=0)
Thank you.

It's not possible for clients to close contracts and not leave feedback.

Thanks, Virginia.
It's my mistake: he left feedback but my profile wasn't updated... until I saw it. So, all fine.
I always ask my clients to close the contract and leave an honest feedback. I think that now, it's enough to ask them to close the contract (as they're obliged to give a feedback)
underlying question:
What happens if the client just disappear and never closes the contract? open contracts can hurt the JSS a bit and If I want to clean that up, I will have then to close the contract myself but in that: no feedback, right?

You should not give dishonest feedback. That has no merit.
Should he be an avid forum reader, he would now know exactly what you think of him.

I think it has merit: it was hard not to send what I had written.
If he is an avid forum reader, he has plenty of time to be a responsive client too.
I think that freelancers in general tend ot give a good feedback to be hired again, at least to avoid closing a door. What do you think?

Hey, Eric. You should be honest with your feedback. If you make it look good just to be hired again you are creating misleading information for other freelancers who check clients reputation before sending proposals. In fact, as a piece of advice, you should always check the client's reputation beforehand. If you had done that you would have saved the headache you described in the 6 points you listed in your original post. And you don't need to express in words all what you suffered when you leave feedback, that's optional. The stars are enough to grade them and there is even a private feedback, it must be done with honesty, that's the whole point. Otherwise he is building a good reputation while he actually doesn't deserve it, and other freelancers will be suffering just like you did thinking he was a good client. By the way, why would you be interested to be hired again by that client? Are you masochist?

Eric, as soon as you rate the client, the feedback of the client appears here:
For the next time...

Nice screenshot! Thanks!
I tend to watch my profile after updating it to see the changes but you're right, this is the best place. Sometimes I want my profile to be updated too soon.

Hi Eric,
You may check this help article to know how contracts without feedback, and idle contracts can affect your Job Success Score.
When closing contracts, we always recommend that you leave appropriate feedback for a client/freelancer so that other users can be informed whether the client/freelancer is a good fit for them. As an additional information, feedback from clients whose accounts have been suspended for a policy violation or who have a history of poor collaboration and negative feedback from other freelancers is excluded from job success score calculation.
