This is Laughable Freelancers on here are a joke as well allowed to scam people and then get a freelancer Moaning about upfront payments Clients getting scammed everyday on here due to the upfront payment You don't walk into tesco and pick up milk and walk out with it without paying and its the same thing with this stupid upfront feature that clients want removing from odesk

Whom are you referring to? Do you realize that as the client, you play the role of the person buying the milk? Tesco is the provider of the product/service - the role that the freelancer plays here on oDesk. So, basically, you have just argued that you should give the freelancer 100% upfront payment, since you don't get to drink the milk (use the freelancer's creation) without paying for it first.
