Non-US citizen live in the U.S.

Hi all, I am new to upwork, and got this question. 

I am currently in the US, but not a U.S. Citizen (holding F1 Visa). What should I do for the payment set up?

Further, I think I am a resident alien for tax purposes. 

Any advice?

Unless you have a CPT or OPT permit you can not work with an F1 visa, including online.

Even with a CPT or OPT you can only take work directly related to your field of study.

You need to check your eligibility for work before doing anything further.

Dear @petra, yes I can get my CPT and OPT as well, but I think my school will not issue that unless I have the job offer (for CPT case at least) and I am not sure how to obtain that from freelancing websites. Yes, the job is related to my field of study.
