Not getting paid at the first job

Hello, I sent an offer via the Upwork website and the customer contacted me via telegram and I made a 24-page translation to the customer. I sent them the 24-page PDF document I translated, but they said that I had to get an ID worth $80 to pay me, and they said that if I didn't send $80 and get an ID, they wouldn't pay, and I didn't get paid. How can I get paid? please give me an idea.

It was a scam. You won't get paid. Read up on how Upwork functions.

thanks for your answer.

Hi there. I think it's a scam. Next time you have to check the Payment verified. It's very important. Today i receved an offer(typing, convert from PDF to Word) where i was asked to make deposit insurance and then I found information that people came across this, paid deposits, did work, and as a result, they were given conditions in order to receive money for work and a deposit, they needed to replenish the deposit again not through UPWORK, but through Netteler, Skrill, Payree . Remember that a freelancer should NEVER pay anyone. And all communication should also take place ONLY in UPWORK. No telegram, etc. Be carefull my friend.

Accepting payment outside Upwork is also a violation of Upwork's Terms of Service and can get a freelancer account suspended.

Thank you for your answer.

Thanks for your answer.

Verified payment means absolutely nothing. If you look at this aspect alone, you will likely be scammed.

Communicating and accepting/making payment outside Upwork are violations of Upwork's Terms of Service. Please look at the Terms of Service at the bottom of this page and take the Academy courses from the main menu to learn how the platform works and to make your profile (you need a real picture of you).

Thank you

Thanks

There are no ideas to be shared on getting your money because this is a scam. There was never any money, only the idea of it.

Here's a resource you should go through to avoid being caught up in things like this.  https://support.upwork.com/hc/en-us/sections/360002712233-Scam-Prevention-and-Online-Safety

Sorry and good luck going forward!

Thank you for answer

This was a scam. Don't contact outside before a project starts. And it was also a TOS violation.

Beware for the next time.

Unfortunately, there has been a rise in scams, and this sounds like it's just one of the many scams on here. As far as payment goes, there is no way to seek payment because the work was done off of UpWork. The TOS doesn't allow for communication on other platforms prior to hiring, and it also doesn't allow payment outside of UpWork. And, in general, if someone is asking you to put money forward in order to be paid, it's a scam.

thank you for your answer.

Did you get an approved Upwork contract to start from the client and you tracked with Upwork's App so you recieve payment?

This is a typical advance fee scam. Advance fee scammers never hire, they just tell freelancers that they are hired and take advantage of their inexperience, and hope they have no idea how hiring works on upwork. There is no contract, which is why the telegram conversation is a violation of ToS.

Unless you had an hourly contract, which I doubt as this is a common scam, you won't be getting any money.
