Obligatory ‘add message’ after accepting a job

Hi Upworkers,

I find that the mandatory ‘add message’ after accepting a contract unnatural as, in my experience at least, it tends to go against the flow of the conversation. Does anyone else hold this opinion too?

It's only a minor issue, but I'm wondering two things:

1) What do other freelancers usually include in this message (maybe I'm including the wrong type of message).

2) Is it possible to turn this feature off? (I'm expecting no to be the answer to this one, but worth a shot asking).

Thanks in advance for your replies,

James

Just type in "Thank you."

Don't worry about it.

Be succinct.

Thank the client and re-iterate any important parts of your contract, such as an agreed deadline for completion.

I usually just type thank you, I'll get started, or I look forward to working with you. It is not really a part of any conversation, it is just accepting the contract. Its not that deep.
