Payment Issues

hi! I was working on a fixed price contract. The fixed price was 400$, the client only had one milestone and 100$ in escrow for that milestone. after completing the work and submitting it, the client ended the contract and hasn't made the remaining payment. there was no agreement that the payment made will be only that amount, as it was a fixed price contract. What to do now as the client is unresponsive and vague?

Upwork is only concerned with money funded in escrow.

Any other money? That is between you and the client to work out. You may ask for money, and the client may use the Pay Bonus tool to send you any amount of money. Also, a client may edit the escrow release amount to ADD any additional amount he wants to.

If you feel that the client did not pay you the full amount he was supposed to, then you may retain ownership of the work product and notify the client that he is not allowed to use it.

But Upwork will NOT help you get money that was not funded in escrow.

For Upwork to get involved:
Amount of "budget" does not count.

Promised amount of money does not count.

Next time, do not make this same mistake.

Only do work that is funded.
