Payment delay (BPI - PH Holy Week 2018)

Hi! Has anyone from the PH freelancers experiencing a payment delay from BPI? I requested mine last March 28, 2018 and notified me that I should expect it on April 2, 2018. When I checked my account today, it is still not credited. Usually, if I request the payment on Wednesday, it will be credited to my BPI account Friday of the same week. Given that there were holidays last week (Mar 29-31, 2018), how soon can I expect it? I contacted BPI as well and told me the reference number for the payment transfer is not yet reflecting in their system. Raised a ticket to upwork and still waiting for updates. Hope you could share your insights. Thanks!

Hi Aldreigh, Thanks for your message. Please note of the holidays in the Philippines and in U.S. In general, direct to local bank payments take up to four business days to arrive at your bank. Please check this article for timings. Hope this helps.

I can confirm that your withdrawal was successful, keep in mind that it can take between 2 to 5 business days for the funds to be loaded on your bank account. If you don`t receive the funds after 8 business days let us know and our team will initiate a trace on your transaction. Thank you!

In My case right now it's not HOLIDAY it's regular day and for 3 years I've been in Upwork when my funds is transfer in Wednesday (PST) It will be on my account just 2 days Friday Early morning around 3AM. But right now since the Holy week The payment is delayed. I know it will take 4-5 days but as of my experience it will not take that long.

Hi - when did you withdraw the fund from Upwork? Is it also BPI?

April 4 - Wednesday. but I think BPI is busy at the moment checking all the International transcations, since the Holy Week.

I can confirm that your withdrawal was successful, keep in mind that it can take between 2 to 5 business days for the funds to arrive on your bank account. If you don`t receive your funds after 8 business days we can initiate a trace on your transaction, weekend days are not included in this time frame. Thank you!

Yeah I understand but you can't take away the fact that it's been 3 years that usually when I withdraw the funds it will just take 2 days. But I think the Bank is busy at the moment checking international transcations.

Before i process my earnings every wednesday and the next day thursday 4pm it is already available.

Today i checked but no money was deposited yet. Anyone experienced this?

No need, Upon checking today it already arrived. And when researching what happened the bank yesterday did a maintenance on their systems, that might have caused the delay. Thanks to all, sorry was just worried 😄

Keep in mind that it cant take up to 24 hours for your withdrawal to be processed. Additionally It can take between 2 to 5 business days for the funds to be loaded on your bank account. Thank you!

It may take up to four business days to arrive and bank holidays may also cause delays. If your earnings don't show on your bank account 8 business days after you initiated withdrawal, you can contact Upwork customer support to initiate a trace.

Was a relief that not only me has experienced this. I've withdrawn last 4th April, Wednesday too, and I would always receive it by Friday of same week, but last 6th April upto now, I still haven't received any. I've followed up with my local bank (BDO) and they said the same thing that the reference number Upwork sent me is not on their system yet and then they asked me to check with Upwork. I asked Upwork on what could possibly happen and they reassured it's not necessarily lost, but maybe because of our local holiday so best to wait for 4 business days to reflect and if 8 business days have passed and still no funds received, then Upwork will initiate a trace upon my advice.

My fund transfer is also delayed since last week but when I checked with my local bank this morning they told that there was pending fund credit but bank rejected it as according to them the fund sender (upwork) did not indicate my full name.

Same here from BPI, processed the withdrawal last Apr-04 and still not yet credited on my account. I look forward to have it credited early morning tomorrow.

Why not go the Paypal route?

If you withdraw today, it will be on your bank account before the day is over. (Usually at 10pm)

This is just my first time to experience delay with BPI without holidays. If this will happen frequently, I might change the means.

In my case I found out the problem. 

This was the scenario:
I have other client with direct bank transaction (not in upwork) usually he sends through CentralFX but at that time I didn't know that he sent it through Paypal. Then here comes a money on my Bank Account, thought it was from the client (not in upwork), it was April 5, 2018 (Thursday). Usually it takes 2 days when upwork automatically withdraw through Local Bank Transfer but this time didn't expect that it's just 1 day, Upwork sent it April 4 Wedenesday and I got it April 5 Thursday. I didn't realize that it was from UPwork because on my BPI Transaction History it's says Elink Payment Remittance not CO.CREDITS PAYROLL so I thought it was sent by my other Client. But when I checked Paypal I saw the money he sent, then I talked to Customer Service from BPI to check who sent the Elink Payment Remittance it was UPWORK. Now CASE CLOSED. 

Conclusion: Didn't expect it's just 1 day after the withdraw, usually it's 2 days.
