Payment has been less than i received

I have given my local bank account for payment (only way to get payment in my country) and my money has been less after pay after withdrawal fee( %0.99 + approximately %3) . I guess i get paid approximately %3 due to currency transformations. 18.5 Turkish Lira is 1 Dollar now, but my money have been paid as 18.07 Turkish Lira per dollar which causes %3 extra cost for me.

Thank you for reaching out. Please note that the cost per withdrawal direct to your local bank is $0.99 (plus incoming fees at some banks). Sending funds in your local currency may reduce or eliminate incoming bank fees.

The currency conversion will be performed by Upwork's banking partner at the time the funds are sent to you. While it's not possible to show the real-time conversion rate, you can check the last exchange rate used by Upwork's banking partner on the manual withdrawal form.

Hi Annie,

I have calculated that including $0.99 fee. But %3 is not understandable rate for currency transformations. I called and asked my bank if they did transformations but they told me they get money as Turkish Lira's. If that is the case and paypal does not supported in my country, is there any way that i can get my payment as Dollar, not Turkish Lira?

Hi Gokalp, open a bank account in USD currency with your local bank. Then use "wire transfer" method. Upwork's bank will take 30usd every time you make a transfer. And your local bank will also take fees which you can probably negotiate. There's a turkey community group here, join and you'll see turkish upworkers discussing the same and you can benefit from their experiences. My humble opinion : stop worrying about expenses, focus on making more money and adjust your rates / prices correctly. Welcome and good luck!

Thanks Alper, i agree with you and my focus is on making more jobs done instead of having more money right now. I just wanted to understand what makes that different so i can understand what my income will be when i am sending offers. Right now i cannot join group because it says it is closed group and i must be invited. I will be happy to join if you invite me
