Hello Upwork Team,
My success percentage is not moving, I have completed 4 successful projects in the last week all with a 5-star rating and one with a bonus from the client too. but my percentage is not moving up. it is 96% since then.

I had a few long-term clients and my JSS score is 80%. I suspect that it is low because of the first contract I had on Upwork which gave me 4.3 rating. It has been a year since that contract has ended. Can I remove that score from JSS calculation?
I also have a client who hasn't provided me with feedback and one client who doesn't need my services right now but hasn't ended the contract. Could those negatively impact my score?
Thanks.

You need to go after and land some short-term projects you can knock out of the park. That's the only way to get your JSS out of the sub-90% gutter. Stacking up some more recent, high scores will push that low one into the background -- your six-month calculation window will be higher and thus, get used.
You can't remove feedback until you are Top Rated, which requires maintaining a JSS at 90 or higher for 13 out of 16 consecutive weeks.

Hello everyone,
Hope all of you are well. Recently I lost my 100% JSS, and now it's 65%.
Is it possible to ever get the JSS 100% again? Yes -If it is possible, then how much time will it require? That is hard to tell.
Thanks
Maybe one of your current clients could leave a feedback while the contract is ongoing.

Hello Christian,
JSS are updated on every 2 weeks and the last update is seen on your My Stats page. I checked and noticed that your recent contracts were ended after the last JSS update. Your recent contracts will be included in your JSS calculation on next JSS update. Check this Help article for more information on JSS.
Thank you.

I'm trying to contact an Upwork moderator to review my JSS score but I have been unsuccessful.
I'd like someone to review my JSS score and let me know how to raise it up. I have been a top rated freelancer for quite some time now and it just recently dropped to 88%. I don't know why and it has hurt my writing career. Since I get all of my jobs from Upwork, I need to get my score back up to 90% or higher. I pride in my work.
I had one low feedback in 2015. So that hasn't affected my top rated status.
Any information would be appreciated.

Hi Deborah,
Job Success Scores reflect a wide range of factors such as public and private feedback, long-term contracts, and repeat ones. You can monitor your Job Success Score on your My Stats page. Also, please keep in mind that the Upwork system takes snapshots of your three-, six-, 12- and 24-month history in the marketplace and calculates a score for each. We use these to determine the score that appears on your profile. If older contracts are moving out of the calculation windows, that could also cause your JSS to change. You can learn more about this here.
Thanks!

Thank you for your response, but I've gone through all of this. I'd like to have an Upwork specialist go through my portfolio to give me an idea where I can repair this. I'm clueless. I have very good feedback. I have been told the contracts with no review don't reflect my JSS. I honestly have no idea why it dropped.
May 12, 2021 11:16:38 AM by Andrea G
Hi Deborah,
Please know that we are not able to disclose the exact reason your JSS decreased. There are multiple factors that affect your JSS, private feedback being one of them, we would not able to share the nature of the feedback with you.

*smh* This makes no sense. It's quite frustrating. I had no problems getting work here. Many invitations sent to me and constant work. Now I struggle and I can't fix it?

I know it sucks, but some of your clients had to give some more private feedback, which is what caused the drop. 88% isn't the end of the world. I dipped to 88% for a time. You can recover, it will just take some time. Try to vet clients better (to avoid those who won't be honest with you), and do your best to make sure they feel like they'd recommend you, which is the private feedback scale that factors in.
May 17, 2021 03:28:13 PM by Deborah C
Everyone keeps talking about this private feedback. Is this something unseeable to me?
It's just frustrating because I've been top-rated for so long that it feels like everything is changed for me here now. I cannot seem to find the good-paying clients and I have never had to put out so many proposals before. I get it. I will work on my profile.
Thanks.

Yes, private feedback is just that, private. You cannot see it. Clients leave public feedback (stars) and private feedback - answering the question "How likely are you to recommend this freelancer to someone else?" That's the private feedback question, it's a scale of 1 to 10, and it is the weighted factor in your JSS. So a client who leaves you less than 5 stars, probably rated even worse in private feedback. A lot of clients leave 5 stars publicly then poor private feedback.
I know this is stressful, but it won't take you long to get back to 90. Also, since you were top rated, if you can figure out which contract did the damage, you can use your perk and remove it from the JSS calculation, that could bump you back up. But you need to request that really soon since you will drop out of Top Rated if you stay below 90 too long.

Hi Amanda,
1. When public feedback is there, then why private feedback needed?
2. If private feedback needed, then why freelancer is not allowed to leave private feedback for a bad client?
3. Client can leave private feedback but the freelancer is not allowed to leave private feedback, don't you think Upwork favors the client and underestimate and neglect freelancers in this way?
4. For a no-earning contract with positive feedback, Upwork down my JSS from 97% to 85%.
5. It takes a lot of effort to make increase JSS to 97% but it takes no offense to down it to 85%.
6. Please tell me the specific reason to decrease JSS to 85%.

What was your JSS before the recent drop? You recently got feedback of less than 5 stars. The private feedback was probably worse. You've likely had some good feedback fall out of your calculation window as well. But again, what was the score before the recent drop?
May 14, 2021 06:39:42 AM by Deborah C
I want to say it was 94? When you say less than 5 stars recently, is that the 4.4 in Feb? I have that and a 4.6 from Jan 2020. Other than that I have 5 stars across the board. I'm not sure how perfect I need to be to keep my top-rated status. Any input to get my score back up would be a huge help for me.
Also, I'm not sure how to see any private feedback received.

Regards to all,
Can anyone please help me? Why does my JSS constantly “fall” even if I’m doing better and better? My Top Rated badge was taken away from me because my JSS fell below 90%. Lately, I have successfully completed a couple of 5-star projects, I was waiting for my JSS to improve and it actually got worse. It's getting frustrating ... please help. Thanks in advance!
May 14, 2021 12:29:35 PM by Andrea G
Hi Danijel,
I checked the contracts you're referring to and it doesn't look like all of them have been calculated into your JSS yet. Please note, JSS is updated every 2 weeks and the last update was on May 2nd, you can check this in the My Stats page. Could you please confirm when you lost your Top Rated badge? Please keep in mind that if you lose Top Rated status because of a dip in your JSS, you have two weeks from that date to submit a feedback removal request.

Hi Andrea,
Could you please tell me why my JSS reduced to 85% from 97%?
Recently I got two jobs but after the discussion with clients, we decided to end the contracts without earning.
From these two, one ended with 5-star ratings and another one canceled by the client.
Today I see my JSS reduced to 85% from 97%. Could you please tell me why JSS reduced by 12%?
When we, both clients don't leave any negative feedback then,
1. Why my JSS reduced to 85% from 97%?
2. Does the no-earning including a 5-star rating contract reduce JSS? If yes then why?
3. When Jobs with higher earnings weigh more then why no-earning including a 5-star rating contract reduce JSS?
4. Does the canceled contract reduce JSS? If yes then why? (We discussed and decided to cancel)

hello every one,
so my problum is 2 weeks back my JSS was 80%, i accept few was 5 star contracts and round 1 2 contracts got 3.5 or 3.15 ratings something but so far i what i noticed in past months once i get any good feedback in 2 week so my jss increases by 5% and same decrease on bad ratings
my concern is my JSS was 80% 2 week back, in these 2 weeks i got 2, 5 star ratings good contracts feedback but saw today the results was 83% JSS just increased 3% on 2 satisfied contracts with 5 star ratings can any one explain why?
May 17, 2021 03:44:18 AM by Md Tofazzal H
After the discussion with clients, we agreed to end or cancel the contract but why Upwork take it negatively and decreased my JSS?
Shouldn't I end the contract after mutual understanding with clients?
May 17, 2021 03:49:17 AM by Goran V
Hi Md Tofazzal,
When a contract is ended both parties will have the chance to provide feedback for each other. The feedback that you receive from your clients will be included in your JSS calculation.
To learn more about what factors are included in your Job Success Score, check out this Help Article. Thank you.
May 17, 2021 04:06:51 AM by Md Tofazzal H
Mr. Goran,
We have given good feedback, then why Upwork decreased JSS?
When the client no objection and the freelancer also happy to end the contract without earning then why Upwork do the stupid things by decreasing JSS?
When both parties leave positive feedback then why Upwork decreased JSS?
Did you understand my question or replied without understanding the actual question?

Good Morning Everyone. I hope everyone is well in the community, I want to address my issue so please if anyone can help me out from the upwork team it would be really helpful.
I recently started working on upwork. I already have 6 reviews on my profile with five of them being 5 Star and one being 4 star. What I am concerned about is that I just got my Job Success Score and I think it should be atleast 80% plus or 90% but I got 76% why is that? Can someone explain please I am in a tough spot here as I am finding it very hard to get my client to trust me now.

Hello Everyone,
Thanks for Reading this Today!
I started working on Upwork 4 Months ago. 2 Months Ago I won my first Job that is completed with a 5-star review. Then I got another job which was also completed with a 5-star review. Then I got one more job. After some time a Client comes to me for Speed Optimization Work and I did his work well but suddenly he canceled the order after getting work by saying " He can also optimize the speed of his website, It's very easy" and he also asked for a refund. I gave him the refund because I'm new on Upwork and I didn't want that it affects my profile. After that order, my Rising Talent Badge Disappears. Now, When I get JSS it's only 46% which is very depressing and the client never ever trust me because of my 46% JSS which is totally Unfair.
I request the Upwork Support Team to guide me properly so I'm able to earn my livelihood again.
Best Regards,
Inaam

Hi Inaam,
Please know that once you have enough work history on Upwork, your Rising Talent status will automatically be replaced by a Job Success Score (JSS). Your JSS takes into account several factors. Refunds do not directly impact your Job Success Score. However, if you refund the full amount of a contract and your client leaves positive feedback, it will not be included in your JSS. This is because contracts with good feedback but no earnings aren't considered in the score.
You can check this help article to learn more about how your JSS is calculated and what can affect your score to change.

Hello,
My Job Success Score is displayed on my profile for quite some time now. The problem is, I have successfully completed all of my contracts but my score is 94% and not 100% and I don't understand why. Does it have something to do with private feedback or the fact that I did a very small task that took me less than 1 hour, and it automatically assumed that the job was unsuccessful?
I really don't understand why my score is not at 100%. It seems like a misunderstanding from the algorithm.
Thank you in advance,
Marie-Sophie

Marie-Sophie N wrote:Does it have something to do with private feedback
Yes, it's because some private feedback wasn't totally enthusiastic.

How long a contract lasts has no effect.
