I think Upwork is aware that problems with notifications still persist. If not please be (aware). It sometimes shows, sometimes doesn't show; updates if it feels like it, doesn't update if it thinks I hurt its feelings, etc, etc...
This became like the traffic problem in Istanbul. It is rumored that our municipality consulted the Japanese (don't know why) about how to solve that problem and after 3 months research they wrote a report saying "leave it as it is, people found ways to deal with it and if you make any changes it will get worse."
I keep notifications page open in a new tab and refresh that page once in a while to see if there are any new notifications...
