UPDATE August: The accepted solution Upwork marked this petition with has not proved to be viable for many users. (most recent update to thread 11th of November) .
Today the 20th of August, the community is left without an equivalent feature. Many have expressed concerns about the change and how it has been approached.
As many have spoken about, Upwork sent an email (to some users) in the past days that RSS feed function will be removed on August 20th 2024. There is no indication that a concrete equivalent feature will be implemented by this date. I strongly agree with users who have expressed high levels of concern about this decision.
I urge community members to boost this post as a petition in support of a move from Upwork to properly engage with users on this issue and consider reversing the decision, at least until a concrete equivalent feature is in place.
Further to this I would like to urge moderators and other Upwork users to bring this topic to the wider community, including Upwork management, for further consideration, discussion, and explanation.
If implemented on the 20th of August, this move from Upwork will negatively affect the professional productivity of users and potentially impact the overall quality of the platform in my view. It seems like a very poor move to take away a standard productivity tool without first providing an equivalent. "Saved Searches" is not an equivalent.
The move its self is one thing, but the lack of clarity and resolve does not bode well for confidence in the platforms ability to maintain a productive and properly optimised environment.

Interesting thing about the idea some people had
that removing RSS would help clean up spam and dud posts:
SPAM in forums and dud job posts are worse then ever.
Still no equivalent feature for real-time job notifications to email.
STOP THE SPAM AND DUD POSTS PLEASE UPWORK

Hi all,
Thank you for sharing your feedback about RSS and Atom job feeds being discontinued on Aug 20, 2024. We appreciate your opinions and have shared them with the team. I would like to assure you that we are migrating job search functionality to more current technologies, and investing in new ways to help match you with the right work.
In the meantime, here are some options we hope will be helpful to you:
You can create and save custom searches directly within your Upwork account, allowing you to receive notifications tailored to your specific needs. This will allow you to access your saved searches easily and get notified whenever there are new results, helping you stay updated with the latest job opportunities. Click here to learn more about creating searches.
If you need more advanced capabilities, such as integrating with external platforms like Slack, you can apply for an API key. Clients and freelancers on any membership plan can request access to Upwork's API in order to integrate Upwork's features with a website and/or internal system. This will enable you to build customized solutions that fit your workflow.
To apply for an API key:

The RSS function removal message was dripping with corporate double-speak. Essentially, they are removing a feature and instructing users to just go do things the hard way with no explanation why and no automated replacement functionality.

Be gone with your sense and sensibilities and logical thinking and things of that nature. Don't you know? This here parts is for ragers and ragers only.

Two weeks for depricaiton of a service / platform in not inline with any industry standard. Raging is kinda warranted in this case.

Upwork cannot provide good enough job search functionality and we were doing it using RSS.
Probably upwork is going to launch something with extra connects (just like they are doing in everything)

I really hope this is not a monopoly type cash grab move. Work will be less accesable to many people with this change and put them at an unfair disadvantge. Trust in the platform is taking some really hard hits becuase of continued changes like this.
What ever is going on with this the apporach from Upwork, it has has been executed very poorly in my view.

Upwork, please don't remove the RSS feed option! I use it every day to receive immediate alerts for jobs & apply additional filters. Your site's default search capabilities are very limited by comparison. It's astonishing that you would make a move like this without a suitable contingency in place.
