There are a lot of things that do not match, clients see this as well. I am not sure about your intentions here. Moreover, English is NOT your native language. This has been proven by the sentences above.

Thank you Margarete M. I will change the my profile english language status native to fluent. Thank you.

Guess what? Success doesn't come just by putting some words on a profile and lists about what you can allegedly do. It doesn't necessarily mean success doesn't come when a profile picture looks sad, but never hurts to liven it up with a little smile or something.

Is your profile written in your words and not taken from anywhere online?

Everyone is always told to write in their own words, only show the skills they can actually do, and don't include any personal website information in your portfolio- like your Fiverr account profile.

Call customer service for help. They'll get you the information you need.

Oh and it can take a year or more to be successful depending on what your line of work is. I"m not successful like many people here are, but I'm happy with the clients I have and to me that's successful.

Mariska P thank you very much. Happy to hear from you.

Maybe you do not like my described offer list but what I could do to express detailed about my services. If I do not write services or offer list then how I could explain details about my services or offers.

Ya my profile picture look sad, I am thinking to change it. You may notice that all my socila media profile picture is same. Now If I have to change it then I have to create a new image and replace it in all my social profiles. You could search at google for me and then you will find all my online profiles. I am also a SMM or social media marketer. This profile picture changing is something dificult for me. But I accept your suggestion and hope that at very near future I will change it.

I wrote my profile by me. Also I changed it many times to express me as very well.

I told you that I am social media marketer. At SMM have one important term that how well you at social media or what your brand identity, If you search at google then you will get my online presence details. Also to know about my brand presence you would search for my personal website. This includes for presenting my brand presence at online. Because I am also a social media marketer. If you are a social media marketer or public relation manager then if any one would ask you one question that : you are a brand manager or public relation manager so what your brand presence or how good your brand presence online ? If your brand presence is not well at online then how you would work for another peoples brand development.

My portfolio do not showing my fiverr account as far as I remember. But I have a link at upper side on portfolio that showing my behance big portfolio link. That for detailed expressing my portfolio. Could you suggest me to remove my external portfolio link ? Then I will remove it.

Ok I will try over the year to get my first job.

Thank you again.

Maybe you do not like my described offer list but what I could do to express detailed about my services. If I do not write services or offer list then how I could explain details about my services or offers.

It's not really me that has to worry about the long list, but it's the clients you're trying to attract. For me, I like to see everything in a nutshell. It's been mentioned here that intead of telling us all your accomplishments maybe you could narrow them down into one or two areas, tell the client what you're bringing to their table. For instance, how you alone are going to increase their profits, or how you're going t increase his staff's productivity. I can't say what you would bring to the table and maybe you said it in your profile , but it was too lengthy a read to me.

Ya my profile picture look sad, I am thinking to change it. You may notice that all my socila media profile picture is same. I understand that in some cultures smiling isn't really a thing, I remember my old family photos from the Netherlands and none of us smiled. I didn't even smile until I got much older and that's only beacuase I want to stretch out my wrinkles. lol.

But put a little life on your mouth and do what Tyra says and 'smeyeze' (smile with your eyes) and you'll be much more friendly looking! I'd pactice first in the mirror until you nail it though. 🙂

I wrote my profile by me. Also I changed it many times to express me as very well. Awesome! That's one hurdle not to worry about!

I told you that I am social media marketer. My portfolio do not showing my fiverr account as far as I remember. But I have a link at upper side on portfolio that showing my behance big portfolio link. That for detailed expressing my portfolio. Could you suggest me to remove my external portfolio link ? Then I will remove it.

Since I do investigate people or things when I want or need to, I did investigate from your portfolio, which led me to your Fiverr account. I'm not going to tell you to remove it, because I don't have the 'cred' here in the forum to make such important decisions. A moderator would most certainly tell you whether it's necessary. As a guru my words are taken with a grain of salt usually but that's only me because most people think I'm a flake anyway.lol.

Ok I will try over the year to get my first job.

Keep at it, be patient,  and keep other sources of income at the same time. At this time I only use Upwork to find work because not too many people are kicking in my door to have me write for them. They prefer the established people. I figure maybe some more cool people ,like the clients I have, will take chance on me eventually. 🙂

So never give up Mohhammad. Your time will come.

And in case you're interested, here's a very fun cool language program you or someone you know might be interested in: https://www.duolingo.com/

You or someone you know can brush up on English, or many of the other languages they offer! I'm still planning to become an expert in Esperonto, but haven't mastered Spanish, French, or Dutch yet.

Did I say it's free? It IS!

Have a good day,

Mar

Mariska P I am grateful to you. You helped me more. I like your suggestions, not only like but alos love your suggestions. If you do not mind could you please give me that link which redirect to fiverr account. Then I will delete that link. Please give me that link or tell me where that link visible.

Overall I will make my profile description more short. Thank you. Oh one more thing your profile picture should be more brighten, this do not show clearly your face. I got it because I am a graphic designer. ha ha ah ah ha.

I don't even see the link now Mohammad I must have been hallucinating! lol..

Take your time on shortening it up, and really make sure you tell the client what you'll do for them and through that they'll know why yu're the right person for the job.

As for my pic? That's as good as it's gonna get. Older women love a more 'distant' placement and definitely complimentary lighting. 😉

thanks though! Should I need help with pictures, I'll get a hold of you!!! 🙂

too much !!!

As a Public Relations Specialist that didn't even consider trying to write press releases or to develop and implement PR campaigns in a language I don't have perfect command of, let alone try to build a career on Upwork focusing on these skills, I'm pretty surprised to see profiles like yours.

I don't know how to put this, but... focus on skills that don't require perfect English grammar, perfect spelling, and an incredible vocabulary.

Needless to mention that no matter what's your native language, if you have writing or communication studies and/or work background, you KNOW how to use punctuation, spaces, etc. It doesn't look like it reading your posts.

A well written overview means nothing when you write a possible client and fail to prove you have the skills you say you do in your overview.

Loredana B Actually english is not my native language. I am able to communicate as very well via this language but I understand that I have to be more perfect at that language. You have more command on this language. Thank you.

@Mohammad Deluar H wrote:

English is not my native language either, THAT'S WHY I would never mention on my overview that I can offer writing, Public Relations, or Social Media Marketing (that involves strategy, development and implementation of campaigns, etc) services.

Because I can't. And I'm pretty sure you can't either.

So go back on that profile of yours and re-evaluate everything written on it. Choose some skills that don't require perfect English grammar and vocabulary, and focus exclusively on those.

I don't think PR or SMM is going to work out for you on here.

What these people do is just spam facebook and twitter with links. That's their "marketing." I've had to educate clients before that hiring some $3/hour fb spammer is a waste of time. You need someone to engage the audience and build followers. You can't do that with just posting random junk article links on someone's social media.

I am giving a draft to you about a social media marketing campaign sample :

suppose you are going to promote a product.

--------------------------------------------------------

Then first you have to search about something like :

1. You have to understand what kind of product it is

2. Related product in market and their price

3. Related product design, cost, value , presence in market

4. Product users age

5. How often that product used to people

6. How much could be the price of that product.

7. Product design

8. users age, gender, time, season, purpose, geo, demand etc

campaign time:

-------------------------------

a marketing campaign average time is one year. after one year any company could determine or could explain about audience reach, product strength.

Based of companies supply and demand, product users etc a product marketing area should define.

Online marketing platform:

1. In which platform this product could be marketise

2. Facebook, instagram, linkedin, Google plus, twitter.

Marketing materials :

Video, Press release, advertisement, photo, news broadcasts, newpaper ads, commercial ads and many more.

Price changing and branding

---------------------------------------

By time to time you have to change price , design, offers, branding style and many more.

This is a short sample of marketing discussion. By reading this discussion do you think only link sharing is marketing ? And did you find me that I am only sharing links at facebook or twitter for marketing purpose only ? If not then how you told What these people do is just spam facebook and twitter with links. That's their "marketing."

I have seen many social media marketers profile here and have seen their poor online marketing style. But thats not mean that I am following them, they also got many contracts here.

I've had to educate clients before that hiring some $3/hour fb spammer is a waste of time

Ok well you could do that, I have seen your profile and got you are engineer and doing marketing and sales. See at my profile I passed SMM skills test here. Do you think that without knowing SMM skills I passed that test ?

Also see at my profile work experience that I was intern sales representative from there I learn something practically.

You need someone to engage the audience and build followers

Only engaging and building followers is not marketing. Marketing is target based selling. SELL or SALES. Company gives target sales also and that is their main target.

Also one more thing I have passed my MSS in Economics. Where always have to study about consumers behavior. product, price, market, production and many more.

You are a GURU here but that does not mean that you have the right to under estimate any one. Deeply mind your behavior.

Jennifer M

Please do not mind. May be I replied to you as something hardly. But I like your suggestions.

lol Actually I've been successfully doing it for years, thank you. Doesn't work that bad on Upwork either, as you can see.

But since your English is as rusty as your SMM knowledge you still don't understand what I'm trying to say.

I don't offer international clients services that involve writing / creative writing. So no press releases, no articles, no Digital Marketing Campaigns, no Social Media Marketing campaigns. I only stick to national (local) projects that require me to write in my native language. I don't cross that line.

I do offer Consultancy and SM Account Management services to clients in the niche I'm specialized in because I don't need perfect English to know what they need and how they can get there. That's my field and I can pretty much rock it in three languages, not just one. But if there's writing involved, I always ask them to hire a PR or a writer, depending on the type of material needed.

So... don't worry about me, I'm not the "mind-blowing" freelancer that can't land a job. 😉

Some people on here really tried to give you nice and honest advice, I don't understand where did all the bitterness come from, but I most certainly won't invest another minute on this thread.

Good luck!

If I go by your profile and posts here, I wouldn't even rate your English as “fluent”. Sorry.

And that profile pic... seriously.

Then I will fix my english level at conversational. Thank you.

How do such profiles get approved??? I am not sure if there is a real person behind this profile. The web is full with numerous profiles with this name for whatever reasons...

It's just not gonna happen, buddy.

There's a reason why successful people are (guess what?) successful. Listen to them and learn.

You came here asking for opinions about your profile, and some of the best contractors in the platform provided harsh but tremendously accurate feedback on it.

However, your main issue isn't your profile itself, or even your questionable English level... it's your attitude. You responded to feedback with an absolutely unnecessary hostility, instead of humbleness and hunger for professional improvement.

This begs the question: how would you answer to criticism from a client? (Wait... I don't think I actually want to know...)

The more I read your responses, the more embarrassed I felt for you.

So here's my grain of sand: change your attitude, and your whole life (not only your business and projects) will change along. Look up to successful people and allow yourself to feel inspired by them.

I lurk here every day and read everyone carefully, because I know there's a lot left for me to learn. I encourage you to do the same.

In my opinion, you should concentrate on just one area of expertise. The one area/skill you have the most skills expertise, and expertise for. You're spreading yourself too think when you have graphic and photo and then marketing. Once you establish yourself in just one area you can then branch out into the other areas.

Don't make your profile consist of a long list. Not saying you can't have a list, but try creating a profile more in a conversational way of what you can do for a client. Take a look at some of the other profiles of established contractors here and see how they constructed theirs (but don't copy their's, make your's your own.

The first thing that "hooks" a potential client is what they read in the proposal you submit. I can't give you advice there except to say, it should emphise what you would do for the client. Once the client reads your profile and if they are interested in it, they will then look at your profile.  So, your first priority should be your proposals.

And yes, it may take months to land your first, second and even third job. This web site was saturated with contractors looking for work, like you are. Then another freelancer site closed down and ALL of those freelancer/contractor accounts were merged or mirgrated here. So this site is Exploding with contractors looking for work. So much so that at times this site's servers can't handle the traffic.

As hard as it may be, be patient. If you're as good as you say you are, you will eventually get the jobs that you apply for.

I tried so many times to stick with just one thing and that is graphic design. But at my past years several of my web sites opened and closed for many reason. By practicing both Writing and Graphic designing I see at my situation I cant leave one. Whatever reason this two skills do not leave me alone. But I know it will better to stick with one thing.

Here is my harsh reality as I have been on Guru, Elance, now Upwork, ODesk.  Thre are two kinds of clients; those that look at you from the lowest cost possible, even if it means you working for free.  The other kind of client are the ones who take their time to review your profile and interview to see what skills you have that meets their project need(s).

The second kind of client are the ones you want to work for.  When I started about 4 years ago, I admitedly took some low paying projects to get my score and reputation to get on the map for other clients to pay attention to my profile.

So, if you do take some of those low paying jobs to get your reputation and scoring to be recognized, make sure you have ROCK SOLID statement of work and rules to be agreed upon with clients.

Please understand, I mean no disrepect but this is a reality of these kinds of sites and in the end you can be successful so be patient and good luck.

There is definitely a language barrier here and that's why you are coming off rude and abrupt when I believe that it is not your intention to do so.

Please, please change your English level to Conversational. You are not fluent.

It's not just him though. Nearly all of the 'review my profile' people come across as rude and abrupt when responding to women.

Looking at how others have responded to you , I don't think you have marketed yourself as well as you think you have. You most likely won't do a good job for clients, and even if you do, your argumentative nature will stand in the way.

When you ask for feedback, it's best to just listen. Turning away help for a post of yours which explicitly requests help is just pointless. No wonder people have stopped following this post.
