Hi, All, do you know what kind of maths? :-)))
So - up to 5 numbers, greatest is 400, smallest is 50, average is 107.14 - do you think there is a solution? ))
(400+50)/2 = 255
(400+50+50)/3 = 166.(6)
(400+50+50+50)/4 = 137.5
Cheers,
Eugene

Hi Eugene,
I've checked the proposals and the average bid for this job is correct. Please note that it takes a bit for the proposals range to update and register the most recently submitted proposals.

You're right, it's not possible. An average of 107.34 would mean a total of less than $400 if there were two or three bids, and only 429.36 if there were four--no space for the $400 + $50, not to mention the two missing bids.
I often find, though, that different pieces update at different times on Upwork. For example, often when a job is submitted it shows up in my "in review" column quite a while before it disappears from my "in progress" column, so that for a while the same number is a part of both totals.

Could it be possible that the low and high are ranges instead of actual bids? As if anything between $25 and $50 is in the $50 range and anything between, say, $350 and $400 is in the $400 range.
If not, something definitely isn't right there 🙂
Even if this is the case though, it would be nice to know, you're paying money to see those numbers, after all.

Hi Eugene,
That's the average bid based on the individual bids freelancers submitted on this job post, that I've confirmed as being correctly calculated.

I see your point.
I suggest the calc program takes net numbers - mean without Upwork fee, so
(400+50)*0.8/2 = 180
(400+50+50)*0.8/3 = 133.(3)
(400+50+50+50)*0.8/4 = 110
(400+50+50+50+50)*0.8/5 = 96
That is closer, is not it? 🙂

Hi Eugene,
Please check the job post as I see the proposal details updated after my initial reply.

As the average of 5 numbers is
Sum of all numbers/ total.
50+a+b+c+400/5 = 107.14
50+a+b+c+400= 107.14 * 5
450+a+b+c=535.7
a+b+c= 535.7-450
a+b+c= 85.7
