Over the past few months, many of you have helped us test and refine our newest Upwork offering: Project Catalog.

Through your contributions, feedback, and support, we’re thrilled to announce that Project Catalog is now officially live for the entire Upwork community—talent and clients alike.

If you’re not familiar with Project Catalog (or just want a refresher), here’s a quick introduction:

Project Catalog is where the work you love finds you. Build and sell your own project offerings based on the type of work you want more of. Each project will be listed on Project Catalog, ready for clients to purchase for a fixed price in just a few clicks. Once a client purchases, they’ll fill out any requirements you’ve requested, and you’ll be set to get to work.

It’s an easy way to get more eyes on your offering and land new projects quickly—all while putting you in the driver’s seat. That means you and your clients can get started right away, and with confidence.

Check out this video to learn how clients will discover and purchase your projects.

Stay tuned for more exciting rollouts

Project Catalog is just the beginning of a series of exciting new ways to land clients on Upwork, adding to Talent Marketplace, the current platform you already know and love.

But no matter how you choose to use Upwork to grow your independent work, know that we’re dedicated to helping you build the strong and profitable relationships that are the foundation of a growing business.

We want to thank you for your hard work and the contributions you make to creating a thriving community on Upwork.

Happy New Year—may it be your most rewarding one yet!

Are "pre-packaged projects" already completed projects ready for sale? I don't understand what we should enter there.

Thank you for this question, Nancy.

We developed Pre-packaged projects to allow freelancers to create and set expectations about their services and the rates they charge. We expect this will improve the experience for both parties: clients will know what type of budget range they’re looking at when they seek out a service, and freelancers can set expectations right from the first profile visit.

But do we just outline a possible project with the type of assignment,
level of pay, and time frame? I still don't understand.

That's essentially it. You could, for example, create one "Proofread a book" with a typical price. Then, if someone selects that, it would start a chat with you and the potential client to iron out the firm details. It's basically just to give clients an idea of the type of projects and price ranges you offer.

You don't need to do anything at all with these, and not everyone finds them useful for their line of work. It used to be called "Popular projects," and when it was renamed to "Prepackaged projects," I deleted all of mine because I feel like the name is misleading for what I do. During the time I had some items listed there, I never got a hit on them.

Thanks so much! That clarifies it.

Hi Nancy, Yes, it's putting together a potential project you'd do and displaying this on your profile so that a client can see it and directly start an offer. Think of it as a way of telling clients who visit your profile what you can do for them at what price. Here is an example:

Thanks so much, Lena, and the other responders. That ansers my question.

Hi Everyone,  I couldn't find an explanation of this feature on Help & Support.  Does anyone have a sense of what having these  pre-packaged projects on your page will accomplish? thanks!

I've never used them, but it seems to me like they're a way to showcase what services you generally offer. I've no doubt someone out there uses them, but every job is different so they're pretty much useless in my view..

Hi Kate,

I've merged your post with this thread as Lena's response above addresses the same question as yours. Feel free to reach back to us if you have any additional questions.

Thank you for reaching out to us.
