Yes, setting earnings to private is not really private.

There are ways to add some degree of privacy to one's earning. But I agree that they're not completely private.

 

If one is looking for complete privacy, or even a high degree of privacy, Upwork is the wrong place to go.

 

Upwork is best thought of as a massive billboard where one can post job listings or maximize the visibility of one's profile and availability for hire as a freelancer by clients all over the world.

 

Upwork is the opposite of privacy.
