Profile View Drop in Stats

How many highly experienced Freeelancers have seen their Profile Views in Stats drop precipitouisly in the last few weeks?  Mine has gone from 60-70 to 7.

Couldn't tell you--I rarely look at it. It's one of the metrics I think is impossible to parse because so many variables operate on it, including where I am in UW's algorithmic rotation to show up near the top of search results.

Well, I also had a big drop from 41 to 36 to 2 !

Who really cares? The search feature is so flawed that it is a miracle we get seen at all. The graph is more like  an ECG. We could flatline at any minute or spring back into life - but nobody knows why.

I'm with Phyllis and Nichola on this ... I rarely look at my stats and for the most part I question the validity of the numbers; especially since lately I question everything about the way Upwork operates on this platform.

It fluctuates because profile visibility is rotated but... yes

As the responses to this thread clearly shows, responding  Freelancers, many of them Community Gurus, are reporting unexplained major declines in the Stats - Number of Profile Views for the last week.

Curiously, this occured right away the "Missing Stats" for all of us reappeared.

It is worth taking a look at.  The confidence of many of us in UW reporting is being affected by this co-incidence.

It's a known bug, nothing you can do and nothing to do with the portfolio either.

As a Top Rated Freelancer in the last year with pretty good earnings till now, I was getting job invitation 2/3 per day. But recently my profile view is low & I am not getting any invitations a couple of months. I want to know what is the problem or am i doing something wrong? Thank you.

Hi Viktor,

I am also facing the same problem. We don't know how the "Profile Discover" rate works. I know it is vital, the number is higher rather than lower.

Though you don't need more views and how many people are viewing your profile. All matter is how you are presenting yourself to clients.

It's same here! I am not calling for interview, got only 2 or 3 invitation from the last 30 to 40 days, not getting new clients from a 30 to 40 days! It always feel that I am doing something wrong but not getting the exact reason! I was getting good number of jobs a few months ago! I am really worried about what's wrong here?

Hello Upwork Experts,

Take my best regards! I am not feeling good at all! I have contracted with only two new clients from the last 30 to 45 days. I am submitting proposal but I havn't call for expected interviews. Probably, I have submitted more than 40 proposal in the last 30 to 45 days and I had called only for two interviews and got two new clients! I have only received 2 or 3 invitation from the last 2 months. It is showing zero in my stats from last two weeks. It wasn't happen with me before even when I first open my account!

I believe, my proposal and skills are alright and that's the way I was getting good jobs here! I read a job very well and then submit my proposal to the point! But it feels that something wrong here from a couple of months! I am not calling for even an interview! And a couple of weeks ago, I have recieved an email from the technical team of upwork and as far as I remember, they said that a bug was in my profile and that was the reason for that people was not visiting my profile. They said they solved that issue and I got two new clients at that time after their email. But again, it's the same situation! Not calling for intervew, not getting expected invitation, not getting new client! Could anyone please tell me what is going on here??? Thanks in advance!

There is a bug that results in not recording the profile views. It does not mean there aren't any.

The views counter is broken, but it does not count any views that result from proposals anyway, and never has. It *ONLY* counts views (when it is counting) which resulted from your profile being discovered in searches (hence the word "discovered")

Views that came from proposals are not and never have been included in that graph.

Rafsun, evidently this feature has been broken since the end of February.  Upwork is aware of it and supposedly has been working on it.

Also, in case you're not aware when things are working by design Profile views are done in a rotation.  Therefore there's times when some receive more views than others.  That also means there's times yours will receive more views than others.

I used to believe the rotation thing was true. It seems like I would get a flood of invites, then back to the normal of maybe 5 to 7 a week (about one a day).

Last week I received the first invite in ages from someone that wasn't an existing client. Seriously, I mean like since sometime in January or February. It was like I feel out of the rotation. I was starting to get concerned, because invites are where I get most new clients on this platform....not the job feed.

I finally did get one invite and landed the job, but I haven't had one since.

I'm not suspicious by nature, but I am starting to think that something was accidently changed and Top Rated freelancers aren't getting as much exposure. I don't think it was on purpose, but I do think like dominos, one change was made and it had a cascading affect.

Evidently it's not working as supposedly was originally designed.  As you know, many of us are well acquainted with how one change can negatively impact other aspects.   I'm Top Rated as well ;but since I'm on a long-term project, I have my account set to not available and profile visibility set to UW users only.  As a result, I'm not noticing occurrences others are.  BTW-Congrats on your project!

Oddly enough, as soon as the graph was "fixed" the problem with invites resolved itself. Received another one last night. While I don't expect the type of transparency that includes public responsibility creating and resolving an error, I am grateful that it is resolved.

Don't want to disrupt these conspiracy theories, but i did receive a couple invitations in the time when stats was clearly broken.

that the stats were broken. Some were even appropriate!

Thank you Pat! But I am really very worried that why I am not getting new clients! Why I am not calling for interview or not getting fair invitation from a couple of months! It wasn't like this before! I was getting good jobs here and I honestly love this platform! It helps me to do my dream job professionally! But what's wrong I am doing here for that I am not getting expected jobs from a long time? I thought and researched a lot about this but I am not getting any proper reason from my side! Is this could be a reason of Upwork system? I really really need a good advice! Thanks again!

Rafsun, you're welcome.  Unfortunately none of us can answer your questions/concerns with certainty.  

There can be highs and lows with freelancing---busier times and slower times.  My advice to you is to realize that and not let it get you down.  Just "keep on keeping on," and you'll be just fine.

ha, well I always attribute this stuff to me never bidding in the open marketplace. That place is trash and it pains me to even look at it. I ride on invites these days, but occasionally I wander into the wasteland that is the open marketplace and wonder why I like torturing myself.
