I find it completely ridiculuos and counter-intuative that Upwork would lock a freelancer's profile for not "earning". It's against all logic, reasoning and rational thinking. I haven't gotten any work from Upwork in a while so they blocked my profile from public view? How is that helpful?
I am top rated, I have almost 800 hours on Upwork. I have been in many forms of my highly competitive field for almost 30 years.
I could see it being appropriate to block or limit a profile that has been inactive for 6 months or a year maybe?
Upwork, I am your client not your slave! You've already made it to where I won't even bid on a job under $200 because of your fees and the funky 'connects' system. Now Upwork is going to further hamper me from making money by hiding my profile when I am not living up to thier financial expectations??
It makes no sense!!!!!
Freelancers are the gears that make your machine work!
What you should be doing is "Require new clients to have a verified payment method when they post an Ad"
That way they are not just phishing and wasting the freelancers time, effort and connects!
Upwork continues to give "potential clients" the upper hand and disregards the real client...The Freelancer!
I'd like to be a fly on the wall at the Upwork board meetings. I can only imagine the debauchery.

Hi Logan,
I'm sorry to know that this has inconvenienced you in any way. I just set your profile visibility back to public. Let us know if we may be of further assistance.

no, ridiculous is not the right word, the right term is "silly". It comes from a bunch pf people who are comletely disconnected from reality and actually aim to punish people for not earning.
Reason why people ar enot earning, are due to the extreme low quality of postings which demand huge work for 5 bucks. I will never accept this sort of **Edited for Community Guidelines**so no, I'm refusing.
Upwork applies the logic that if you're having difficulties we make your life even more difficult.
I believe Artificial Intelligence should take over, we may notice a change for the better.
Today I got my profile locked again although I have an ongoing job and I've just been hired for another one but they cut my profile right at the moment when I was receiving the offer.
Greed is the drive of this portal. My patience is running low.

Hi Fabrizio,
I`ve just changed your visibility back to public. Please keep in mind that this feature is not connected with the contracts, but with the earnings. If freelancers do not earn for the past 30 days their visibility will be changed to private. You can read more details about this here. Thank you.

thanks Goran but this wasn't the point, which you Upwork staff try to ignore, obviousl

Oh come on, don't be dramatic. You make it sound as if there are no decent jobs in your category (there are plenty) and if your profile being temporarily set private is somehow such a huge deal. It takes a minute to request for it to be set public again.
It has no effect on clients you apply to seeing your profile, so I seriously can not see why people get into such a state over something that is, at worst, a minor inconvenience....

Petra, your intervention is absolutely pointless since you obviously didn't get the point of my post. I understand that you want to impress the management but try harder.
Learn to read better so maybe your replies may be more effective.
Thanks

I'm a freelancer, I don't have management to impress.
Your point was well understood. You claimed you don't earn because there are no well paying jobs in your category (there are) and made a song and dance over something that takes a minute to sort out.
Just because someone does not agree with your point does not mean they didn't understand it 😉

So pretentious of you to discuss things you don't know the first thing about, but I guess that in your professional life, becoming a Community guru on Upwork must have given you a special status and increased your self confidence and make you believe you can have your say on every subject. In this case I'm happy for you. Little achievements are better than nothing .
However, I wouldl like to tell you that
1) Your insight is of very little help to me.
2) I didn't come to this forum to discuss or argue with you. I made my point and you decided to share your unsolicited opinion, without even making a solid point and no, I inisist, you didn't get the point but feel free to believe you did.
