Proposal Made today and job archived on the same day

I made a proposal on a job today and the job went into archive a couple of hours later.  How can we save our connections if this happens?  How can we tell the job is about to be archived???

You can't.

There's multiple genuine reasons why a job might be archived. The client might have just hired somebody else, for example, and closed the job. Although you can look at the client's hiring rate to try and weed out those who rarely hire.
