Proposals feedback

How do clients see proposals? What I mean is the actual layout (a screen would be helpful), can they decide to order them by lowest/highest amount, JSS, or anything else?

What about a notification for the freelancer: "Your proposal has been declined by X because Y (bid too high/low, low JSS, freelancer already chosen, etc.)"? The exact same thing we can do with job offers: Not Interested, Vague Description, Expectations too high, etc. When connects were free we really had no rights over proposals, but now we are paying to send a proposal, the least I expect is to know why my proposal has been rejected or if the client has at least opened it (In case it hasn't been opened you won't receive a feedback for example)
Is this so out of the world? It would benefit both parties.

Edit: I have the feeling Upwork is losing touch with their freelancers, especially this last month, you need a strong message to regain reliability, we feel somewhat like your piggy bank who you can toy with at anytime.  Freelancers are your clients too, Upwork, remember this.

Roberto - If freelancers are a piggy bank for Upwork, why is Upwork losing money? Maybe it is Upwork who is a piggy bank for freelancers.

I'm not that much into economics, I can see that Upwork stocks are going down but I really can't say why or anything else, and that is something that has nothing to do with my proposal anyway.

Up.

Even a reply with "your suggestion sucks" would be good for me.

Hi Roberto,

Thanks for sharing your ideas with us. Please know that when proposals are received by clients, they are arranged by "best match." This means that the proposals, and profiles are arranged according to how they best match the client's job post and needs.

You should be able to see if a proposal is still Active or Archived on your Proposals page. While we do not have a feature where you are notified if a proposal is opened or read by a client, I'll make sure to send this to the team for their consideration.

I would also like to note that if a client doesn’t hire and closes their job post, any Connects used to submit a proposal will be returned to you. However, if they do not close the job, no Connects will be returned. We understand this isn’t ideal, and we regularly reach out to clients who have open job posts to encourage them to close them if they don’t intend to hire. Because we know the move to paid Connects has made this issue more important, we have already ramped up our outreach to clients who post jobs and don’t hire, and are looking into other ways to better ensure these jobs get closed so your Connects are returned in these cases.

Yeah Avery, I know my way well in Upwork, and I fully know that clients just don't close their job, in more than a year here on Upwork I've been refunded 1-2 times.
Most of the clients open their job offer on multiple platforms and hire somebody else on another platform (understandable, I'd do it too), this leads them to forget about the job they posted on Upwork. And what happen in these cases, since "Upwork can't force their clients to close their job"? The job gets cancelled after 2 months of inactivity, often with 0 interviewing, 0 invites, 0 hired. AND WE DON'T GET OUR CONNECTS BACK.

Btw, Avery, you sent the exact same message the support sent me 2 weeks ago, it's not cool to talk to a robot, you know. This shows exactly why you are losing trust from every side.

Could you please send me a PM with examples of the jobs you`re referring to, so that I can check this from my end? Thank you.
