Query about the ways to boost success in landing more Upwork jobs

During the past one month,  I have just turned myself from a new member to a rising talent.   However, my road to more new contracts has seemingly been hampered.   The most recent ten proposals have hardly been echoed.  

I am after all not very young, just in my early 50s.   Moreover, my country of origin is not an English-speaking country, to be exact, a regime that may be biased in the international arena.  I am wondering whether age, country of origin, or such facets of freelancers matter in getting viewed by recruiting entities or individuals?

No one can give a definate answer to that, some clients may care about it while others may not...

But I can say one thing, I have seen sucessful freelancer profiles from almost all countries and possibly across all age groups...

So if you don't think about it too much and go about sending proposals you'll find sucess.

My personal experience with clients on upwork has been very pleasent.
