Hi,
I worked for a client on Upwork continuously for 2 years but now my contract with this client got over on 31st Jan 2023. I recently applied for a bank loan and to complete my earning background verification, bank asked me to provide a letter from Upwork stating that I worked for "Client_name" who hired me on a Freelance market place on Upwork platform having "Contract id", "Contract start & end date", and certify that payments received in my account for upwork is against this work that I did for this client.
I tried reaching to support team to provide me a "Whomsoever it may concern" letter with similar things so that my loan gets approved, but their customer care agents simply say that I should download a certificate of earning with no client name. They are not trying to understand my query & situation.
I would like to know why Upwork cannot provide a client name on a letter if a company hired me on their platform and made the payments for the services I rendered to them through Upwork... What is the harm in it? This client is an Enterprise Client of Upwork.
I'm finding myself helpless and it seems Upwork doesn't care for the freelancers who give business to them. Can anyone help me, whom I can reach or speak for this certificate in Upwork? Any HR of Upwork or anyone in the company?
I would be really thankful.
Kind Regards
Anshul

Hi Anshul,
Thank you for reaching out to us. We certainly understand your concern and request. However, please note that Employment can be created only by an employer. Because Upwork does not act as an employer or otherwise engage you, we are not able to provide you with this documentation. If you have a long-term client on Upwork we recommend contacting them to see if they can provide you with verification of employment or of services rendered.

Since you are self-employed, a bank will normally want to see your tax returns and proof that your business is properly registered, if your country has any formal procedure for that.
