Question to Upwork Regarding Negative Feedback

From September, it will no longer be possible to remove negative feedback. I have a question regarding this. Is Upwork planning any new form of protection for freelancers against unfair feedback from clients?

I received a very low rating today, which I believe is unfair. However, this is just my subjective opinion. I deduce this because I created a design last September. I am satisfied with the design and even wanted to add it to my portfolio after the project was completed. The client was supposed to send new photos for the design I created and sent for approval. I never received them. Instead, unexpectedly, the client closed the project today without any comment and gave me a rating of 1.4. In my opinion, this client must have had a bad day and decided to take it out on someone, and it's easiest to do that on Upwork since Upwork doesn't interfere with comments.

My question is, will there be any new, better ways to defend freelancers against unfair comments starting in September? If possible, I would gladly, for example, exchange 100 connects to have this project reviewed by someone who would give a verdict on whether the received rating is fair.

Not sure. The feedback definitely doesn't align with your track record. Hopefully, they provide a solution in the near future to prevent things like this. Maybe an internal review board of individuals that have expertise in the selected field, to review projects and determine whether the feedback is justified. Best of luck.

They even cut cost on support staff, which supposed to be more important (look at how many client complaints about not having support) than having staffs to review 18 million freelancers to determine if they deserves some stars or not ๐Ÿ˜

I glanced at your profile and it looks like you've used the feedback removal perk 16x.  16x is a lot of times for a rare unfair thing to occur.  And I would imagine it would have been used more if not for the limits imposed by Upwork.  You have to take some responsibility here and improve the quality of your services and also better vet clients.  There is no more Get out of Jail Free Card on Upwork so it's best to start preparing.  

I have completed 4,000 projects. So I used one feedback removal for every 250 projects, which is less than half a percent. I also used feedback removal for 3-star feedback. I treated feedback removal as a free convenience that should be utilized even for projects with three stars. The last time I used feedback removal was 10 months ago. Do you have better statistics? Do you have better statistics than my half a percent?
