I'm having a similar problem to the ones expressed by others here. I provided my RFC longtime ago, probably almost or more than a year ago, from the moment Upwork sent an email informing users that Mexican based freelancers needed to provide their RFC or up to 20% of their earnings would be withholded. In my case, as I mentioned, I provided it longtime ago and it was successfully verified. But today, when looking at my transaction history, I noticed two of the four upcoming payments had a 20% Tax Withhold while first two still shows a 1% Tax Withold but the two that follow those show a 20% Tax Withhold. Additionally, all my transaction history previous to the last two payments that will go through shows that I have been charged only 1% as Tax Withhold until now. I don't know why that happened. I tried to get support using the green button, but it kept me showing the articles related to the Mexican Tax Withhold thing. 

If any can tell me how can I get direct support I would sincerely appreciate it.

I have the same problem, my RFC still pending verification since a large time (months) probably I'll get a project the next week and I don't want the problem with the TAX retention. What can I do?

Hi Aida,

Thank you for your message. As long as you have added the correct RFC number, the correct Withhold Tax deduction will apply and be forwarded to the Mexican government.
