That is because clients are not allowed to ask for free work, and you gave him just that. Free work.

All client's instructions in a proposal are not supposed to be followed to the letter, step back and think if that piece is the only thing the client needed to be translated, he got it for free, either from you or somebody else.

Client fool freelancers this way, they asked for free work and got away with it. Never, ever do work for free.
Work after you have been hire, hourly or fixed price, for both payment method verified, and milestone funded.
That's why the job was taken down by upwork, it's against TOS to ask for free work.

Some scammers are able to trick new freelancers into doing work free of charge by including a "test" or by promising to pay later and never doing so. When those scammers are caught, their job posts are removed. Your message will say the job was declined but in reality, it was removed from the system because it was a scam.
