Refer a freelancer

Does anyone ever use this? I would love to be able to recommend another freelancer for some of the jobs I decline, but I don't happen to know any other book designers on Upwork, and I don't even know how I'd find them, other than the way the Upwork Talent Specialists seem to... just by browsing freelancer profiles. I'd obviously hate to refer someone who is not up to the task.

Yes. I'm wondering how we, as freelancers for the most part, who don't hire for things as we're busy providing services, know other Upwork freelancers to refer. Other than chatting with people in the community, I don't really know any Upwork freelancers. But I'd love to connect with some good freelancers and be able to refer them.

Hi Kelly,

You don’t have to personally know the freelancer you refer. If you know someone, that's great! Otherwise, you will have the option to search for a freelancer if you’d like to do so — or you can choose not to refer anyone. But you do bring up good point and it's something we've also discussed with the team. Unless a freelancer works on projects as a part of a team or participates in this Community they probably don't interact with other freelancers on Upwork a lot. We'll continue working on creating more opportunities for talent to meet, network, share their experiences and opportunities - here in the Community and at various events.

Thanks Valeria. It came up again today because I get super frequent invitations to smaller jobs that I just don't have time to squeeze in. I would love to be able to refer another competent freelancer instead of just having the client hope to find someone suitable. I think it would certainly help us all if we are always working to raise the bar overall on Upwork.
