Regarding Talent Scout Program

Hi,

I have been invited to the Talent Scout Program by Upwork. How is it? and how does it help us? My next step is an interview. What kind of questions will they ask?

Thanks.

Hi Abdul,

Thank you for your message. Talent Scout matches the most highly skilled talent on Upwork with clients who are looking for the best of the best. These are exclusive roles with clients who want to work with the top independent professionals around.

Since you received an invitation, you need to go through our assessment process, then set up a time for you to meet with one of our specialized recruiters who will interview you to see if you are a fit for the program.

Here are the Talent Scout perks:

  • No freelancer service fees on Talent Scout contracts. It’s our way of showing our appreciation for your hard-earned talent and all that you’ve contributed to the work marketplace.
  • Exclusive access to top paying clients on Upwork. These clients work directly with us to find talent and don’t post their jobs in our marketplace.
  • Exclusive access to long-term, higher-paying jobs. Talent Scout helps you build meaningful relationships with the most trusted clients in the world.
  • Specialized recruiters reach out to you, no need to apply for jobs. Spend less time looking for jobs and more time doing the work you love.

The goal of the interview with the specialized recruiter is to assess your soft skills and to learn more about the type of jobs you're interested in. That way we can see if you are a fit for the program and when to consider you for the roles with our most trusted clients.

Feel free to check this help article to be more acquainted with how the procedures work. Wish you the best of luck!

Thank you for your guidance.

Hi Arjay,

I was invited to the Talent Scout program as well, back in February, but I don't really understand what it does and I haven't heard anything of an interview. Did I miss something? Is there like an intro video about what this is all about and how to benefit from it?

Hi Colin,

Thank you for your message. You can refer to Arjay's message and the link shared by him for more information on Talent Scout. Could you please confirm if you submitted a request already to join the Talent Scout program?

Thank you,

Pradeep

Upwork

Hi Pradeep,

Thank you for following up on this Pradeep, I have read the link in his posting- thanks for pointing that out.
I was invited to join Talent Scout and was approved, however I don't recall having an interview and have never really dug around to find out much about it. I just found where it was located on my profile and the link took me to just 2 job postings in the Talent Scout filter, so I guess it is either a very small amount of jobs in there or perhaps not having an interview is only showing me extremely limited job postings in there?

Hi Pradeep,

A year ago I applied for the talent scout program, but I was not approved, Although I was notified that I can apply again in six month time, when I accessed the page I still get the not approved message.

Hi Samuel,

Thanks for reaching out. If you wish to re-apply for the Talent Scout program, please check out this help article for more information on how you can do that.

How I can apply for a talent scout. I'm already a freelancer on Upwork working for the past 10 years.

Hi Jitendra,

Thank you for reaching out to us. To take part, you’ll need to apply and successfully pass a  screening process. Then, when we have a client looking for your skills, we’ll let them know about you.

For now, we only offer Talent Scout screening for those working in the Design & Creative, Sales & Marketing, or Development & IT categories. However, we plan to expand the program in the future.

To apply to be part of the Talent Scout program, click here. Please allow at least 21 days for us to review your submission –– we get a lot!

If you qualify, we’ll first have you go through our assessment process, then set up a time for you to meet with one of our specialized recruiters who will interview you to see if you are a fit for the program.

Please check this help article for more information.

I applied to join the Talent Scout program. My profile completeness is 100%, I am a Top Rated freelancer with 100% job success rate, with earning of $30k+. I was told that my "skills don't meet the requirements to join at this time", with no further explanation. Is it possible to get further information on what further requirements are needed? I will like to be able to join the program. thanks

Hi Alan,

Thank you for your interest in joining the Talent Scout program. When you were told that your skills don't meet the requirements to join at this time, this could mean that your current skills are not a good match for the needs of the clients who use Talent Scout at the moment. Once you build your expertise we welcome you to reapply (please wait at least six months so you have time to gather more experience).

Without any insight into the client's needs, this is not very helpful. I am a specialist in audio production, so if I knew what was "trending" I could work to improve that area of my skillset/portfolio.

Hi.

The interview was quite similar to the ones I've had before. However, in order to get accees to the proposed contract I was requested to pay 199 USD for the annual subscription. I refused.

It doesn't cost anything to join the Talent Scout program. It sounds like you were dealing with a scammer, not with Upwork.

Hi Christine,

Are you sure that Talent Scout program is free? Have you ever been approached by a Talent Scout? Do you believe that a scammer has an authority to delete a room in Messages panel or block an account? Please, have a look at the attached screenshots:

This is a scam, its not the talent scout program

Your screen shots were deleted so I can't see them, but yes, I'm sure that Talent Scout is free, because I'm in the programme.

According to you, you are enrolled in Talent Scout. Can you tell me how you feel about it and what changes before and after?

I was contacted by a Talent Scout a little over a year ago and joined the Expert Vetted program 1 year ago. I have found it to be pretty much useless.  The Talent Team at first sent me infrequent job application invitations which over half of them had nothing to do with my skillset and were paying below my rate.  When jobs that were suited to me would appear, I would apply and then never hear anything back.  I was told I would get connected to Enterprise Clients - this has never happened once.

I've asked my Talent Scout for help optimizing my experience with the Talent Program, and my questions have largely been ignored.

The "Expert Vetted" badge is nice, but it only shows up for Upwork Plus clients, which a large number of clients are not.

So overall, the Talent Program could use much improvement.  Specifically:

* Connecting Expert Vetted talent with Enterprise Clients.  I remain stumped as to why I have not had a single interview with an Enterprise client in my 13 months in the program.  I have a 100% JSS and I have not seen a freelancer in my field with a stronger video production portfolio.

* Only sending jobs that are suited to a freelancer's rate and skills

* Higher quality of communication by Talent team members who actually care about the well being of freelancers (WE are the clients to the Talent Scouts!)

Currently this program is a MAJOR missed opportunity ( so don't get your hopes up! )

So how was the experience? Did you get selected?

It says that one of the requirements is that you have a "tagged skill". What does it mean to have a "tagged" skill?  I have skills listed, but not sure if they are tagged or not, and what I would have to do, in order to ensure that at least one is tagged?
