Regarding a dispute with a client

Hi I am Mithun

I was working with a client**Edited for Community Guidelines** where the contract was worth $50 but the client deposited only $10 in escrow. I submitted my work 3 days ago, the client told me he would review it & let me know. But the client's deadline was on Tuesday 5 pm & since then he has not been responding to any of my messages.

Anything I can do to resolve this issue

re: "I was working with a client where the contract was worth $50 but the client deposited only $10 in escrow."

You are incorrect.

The contract was not worth $50.

The contract was worth $10.

Maybe the $50 was posted as the "budget"?

The budget does not count. Promises do not count.

Only the amount of money deposited in escrow counts: $10.

The deadline does not matter.

The client is not required to respond to your messages.

The client has 14 days to review the work. Not 3 days.

If the client DOES NOTHING, then all of the money in escrow will be released to you AUTOMATICALLY.

re: "Anything I can do to resolve this issue"

There is no issue.

You simply did not understand how Upwork works.

All you need to do is: be patient. Do nothing.

Don't send any more messages to the client.

You already clicked the "Submit work for payment" button.

Don't click it again.

Now, just wait 11 more days, and the money will be released to you.

No the client didn't want to give the full amount in escrow as he wanted to check my work

He had assured $50 for the solutions I submitted.

But after submitting he isn't responding

There is no $50.

This is a $10 contract.

Promises do not matter.

He could have promised to buy you a magical unicorn. It doesn't matter.

re: "But after submitting he isn't responding"

That is fine.

He does not need to respond.

You will get paid the full amount of money in escrow if he does not respond. Just wait.

After this, I didn't say there is no milestone & submitted the work which I agree was a mistake

But if this isn't sufficient evidence to flag a client, then such incidents would keep happening.

If Upwork really cares about the quality of clients then they should at least flag this as a dispute & resolve it on a call with the client.

I know I didn't follow the Upwork rules diligently but a human is allowed to do mistakes.

On a side note, there would be no dispute if everyone followed the rules.

And the very existence of dispute resolution on Upwork gives room for such mistakes plz try to think from my point of view.

Looking forward to a positive reply.

In future, don't do work in excess of what is funded. If $10 is in escrow, you do $10 worth of work.

I will keep that in mind

But if possible please flag this as a dispute in an active contract

Thanks for the quick response, really appreciate it

No, there is no reason for a dispute.

There is nothing to dispute.
