Report a client ask for free work

Hi,

I saw someone say that if your client asks for free work, you just have to flag them in the original post.

Besides doing that, post in the forum to let a moderator be aware of the issue. Is that how it works?

If so, How can I report the client here? Do I need to provide a screenshot here or customer service will reach out to me?

Tried using https://support.upwork.com/hc/en-us Get help. I never had a chance to talk to a representitive. Need help. Thanks.

Hi Lingzi,

You can find instructions on how to Report Suspicious User Activity here.

Hello,

I have read all the policies and saw this one : https://support.upwork.com/hc/en-us/articles/211068528

What I am trying to do is to file a dispute on an ended contract. Here is the steps:

  1. From your find work home page, go to My Jobs and choose All Contracts.
  2. Find the contract and select See Request. (Where is this page)
  3. Choose the option I do not approve of this request and wish to file a dispute.
  4. Select Next.
  5. Specify your reason for the dispute and give details to support your claim that the work is complete and that your payment is due. Explain the situation with enough information to enable  the dispute specialist to understand your claim.
  6. Choose Continue and review what it means to initiate a dispute. If you agree, choose Continue to Dispute..

I ended the contract first because I was told by the client over the phone that she won't pay me after I have submitted my work. I felt so uncomfortable at that time so I ended the contract without getting paid. But I see the client continue recruiting other people and I felt so bad for them. Is there anyway to report her dishonest behavior privately to the customer support team? I have all the evidence. Thanks.

Hi LINGZI,

Thank you for following up. Could you please click on my name and send me a PM with more information about the contract and the client you are referring to? I will be sure to look into your report and escalate it accordingly.

Hi Nikola,

I have sent you a PM twice and never heard back from you and I wonder have you received my message? Thanks.

There is no point because you can't dispute a contract you have ended yourself.

All you can do is flag the job post as inappropriate and then move on.

I'm sorry hearing what you've been through. I'm in the middle of a dispute, and I know the feeling.

Have the customer support team replied you yet? What did they say?

Just no one replied back to me.  Still waiting for the response and I guess @Nikola S will never reply.

There is absolutely no point! There is nothing to dispute. When you ended the contract, you sent the money back to the client. This is over. You can flag the job post as inappropriate, but other than that it is time for you to just move on.

Calm down. Petra. It actually helps. I saw the client's acc has been suspended. Because she hired 5 people at the same time, but none of us got paid. And it has been over 1 month.

Wow, good hearing that. I'm doubt if she could create a new account, couldn't she?

Not 100% sure about it. She cannot do that unless she uses other people's acc or credit card.
