Hello!
I have a question regarding the job success score update.
I had unsuccessful project (contract for 52$ and grade 3.3) , after what my JSC decreased by 3 points.
Then I had successful project (contract for 500$ and grade 5.0) after what my JSC didn't change.
How is it possible that the contract in 10 times more didn't affect anyhow?
Thank you in advance,
Oleksandra Krasnova
Currently, it doesn't matter the income. The JSS is not money weighted. So you will likely have to wait until the bad score falls off the 6 month window to see a positive change.

A perspective from an Upwork contractor who also hires,
When a project is closed down, we have a ratings block that contractors do not see. We can, for example, leave a front-end rating that looks good to great, but on the back end, express our displeasure in ways contractors cannot see.
Many of the JSS change issues I see on this platform are perhaps due to the fact: it is not known or processed that hiring clients leave behind-the-scenes ratings contractors do not see. The JSS Big Math pays close attention to these contractor-hidden ratings as they tend to be more "honest".
Let me relate again: it is not in most hiring client's best interests to leave poor 'visible ratings'. Reason: we know other contactors will see this, come in with their guard up, or perhaps not respond because the contractor fears the client will not treat them fairly. Which is another reason what you see on your public ratings may not reflect what is provided as ratings on the hidden side.

John, private feedback is widely discussed here and comes up in response to just about every JSS thread. Based on those discussions, I can tell you that the main issue isn't that freelancers don't know it exists, but that many have a very hard time accepting that their clients are liars. They feel betrayed when they find out that the client said one thing publicly but then said negative things about them in private, giving them no opportunity to respond or learn from that dissatisfaction.
No matter how many times it is discussed, a lot of freelancers just persist in wanting to believe their clients are of better character than that, especially if they thought they had a good working relationship.

Thank you for your answer. It is very hard not to ask since I can't check it myself.
Take a look at your private feedback percentage, which reflects the private feedback your clients have left for you and how they felt about working with you. You can find it under "Clients who would recommend you" on your My Stats page.

Hi Oleksandra.
As others have mentioned, the earnings on a contract don't influence the effect it has on your JSS (as long as you earn at least $1).
Another thing to bear in mind is that the JSS is (roughly speaking) an average. To maintain a JSS of 90%, you need to have 9 good feedbacks for each 1 bad feedback. So a good feedback has only 1/9 of the effect of a bad feedback. (If your JSS was 10% it would be the other way round!)
This might be a good time to use your Top Rated perk to remove the effect of that bad feedback from your JSS. If you get another bad feedback soon you will lose your TR status. In that case you'd only have a 2-week window in which to use your perk and regain your TR status, before you lose the perk. If at that time you can't identify which job had the bad feedback (because it was only the private feedback that was bad), you might have difficulty using the perk. At the moment you know exactly which job has the bad feedback, so you can be sure of perking the right job. Also, the sooner you use the perk the sooner you'll get it back. (Once you've used the perk, you can't use it again until 3 months or 10 completed jobs have passed, whichever takes longer.)

Thank you for this tip! Can you give more details how to use top rated perk for this negative feedback?

I removed negative feedback two weeks ago and after it I ended 2 projects with 5 stars. Unfortunately, JSS increased up to 92% 😞 (+2%)
But that's good. It is going in the right direction!
