Scam offers hire an advertising specialist

Hi,
I’ve been getting a few offers every week from well-known brands like Calvin Klein, River Island, Carolina Lemke, … for Facebook ads and they all insist on sending files via email and not on Upwork or sending zip files on Upwork, I’ve reported them as scams and declined them but I think it has had a bad impact on my Upwork profile.
Has anyone had the same problem? What have you done?

This is a well-known scam in which they'll send you a virus. Reporting them is the only thing that you can do. It doesn't have any impact on your profile.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my question.

Hi Sara,

I am sorry to hear about your experience. I suggest you check out this course for more tips on staying safe on Upwork and please use the flag option found on each job post or message anytime you’d like to report a violation.

Thank you I just completed the course. I use the reporting in the message and also report the reason for declining as a scam. But I'm worried declining offers may not be good for my Upwork profile!! I had the rising talent badge and it's gone now, my eligible weeks are doing a reverse countdown after getting to 16 weeks!? which is strange.

Hi Sara,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I'd like to assure you that declining offers does not impact your profile. In order to maintain the Rising Talent badge, you must meet the criteria listed here. Also, often times Rising Talent is removed when you complete enough contracts to calculate a JSS.

Hi Annie,

Thank you, but the only thing on the criteria list is that I didn't have connects for ten days!! Can you tell me why my eligible weeks went to 16 and now counting backwards every week?

Hi Sara,

To become a Top Rated freelancer, you must either have Rising Talent status or a Job Success Score (JSS) of 90% or higher for at least 13 weeks out of the last 16 weeks. The Top Rated eligible weeks metric tracks your progress by looking at the last 16 weeks as a rolling window. This metric is updated every Saturday. Every Saturday, we drop the week that is 17 weeks old from the calculation and add the most recent week.

If you want to increase your count, you should make sure that you are eligible now and that you were not eligible 17 weeks ago. Your count will decrease if you are not eligible now and you were eligible 17 weeks ago. You can refer to the chart on this page for more information.

You are certainly not alone. I've received two offers in the last week for a service I don't specialize in. Although I politely decline, the replies feel like they're generated by bots. Thanks to your thread and the info here, I'm now reporting them.
