Hey people!
I have a question that keeps bothering me.
I just started a new contract with a new client. I have to research and write a couple of scripts. He hasn't answered my messages or provided a topic yet, and I am afraid that we started on the wrong foot from the get-go. 😞
I haven't done anything wrong, but I feel that he doesn't need me anymore.
If he disappears, what are my options here? Is there a way to end a contract without it affecting me? Can he get his money back? I don't want to be paid if I haven't done the work or discussed this issue with the client.
Also, I am Top Rated at the moment, and I wouldn't want to lose that because of a potentially harmful review.

How long ago? Weeks?

You can close the contract or leave it open. Neither does any harm unless the client left poor private feedback, and there isn't any reason for them to do that.
STOP sending messages though. The client knows how to reach you if they want to.
In future, don't accept a contract until you have what you need to at least complete the first milestone.
When you close the contract, any funds in escrow are automatically returned to the client.
