Hello UpWork community and support. I would like to request a better option for Schedule a Meeting if at all possible. If I am doing something wrong or missing the redeeming qualities of this feature I would love to hear about it.
Here is how I as a freelancer would use this feature 99% of the time if it worked in an ideal capacity.
Step 1 . Talk with client and plan a time to meet.
Step 2 . Click Schedule a Meeting
Step 3 . Select the day and time the client and I have already discussed.
Step 4 . Send them a meeting link for that day and time.
The issues as it currently works are:
1 . I have to send them an invite. Then, they have to do the work that I as a freelancer should easily be able to handle for them as the client. It puts all responsibility on the person paying vs me the freelancer.
2 . I have already added their meeting to my calendar so I don't forget. This means their scheduled time is probably not showing as available now.
3 . The Zoom link is super hard to find. It's not a normal Zoom calendar invite with a big long link attached.
4 . That link can't be easily shared with the rest of their team. I am frequently working with more than one person within a company. Multiple people would like to attend the meeting which is nearly impossible to facilitate. Somewhat because you can't share email addresses and somewhat because you can't find the link to share.
5 . At the moment I generally tell my clients I will drop a Zoom link into the chat 5 - 10 minutes before the meeting. Just to avoid having to use the schedule a meeting feature. Which is somewhat unprofessional but much easier.
Pros:
This method seems to work well for consultations. It's just awful trying to use it with current clients.
Give it a vote if you agree.
