Hello SIr, 

I have rising talent badge but still I charged 20% service fees and as per upwork fees for rising talent should be 10%. Also, I am seeing withhold tax of amount $6.25. why that is deducted?

Hi Praveen,

I would like to clarify that our service fee is not reduced when you receive the Rising Talent badge. As a freelancer, you’re charged a sliding fee based on your lifetime billings with each non-Enterprise client. To learn more about this, check out this Help Article. 

Regarding the tax charge, Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) is a means of collecting income tax in India by requiring businesses making payments in India to remit a portion of that payment directly to the Indian government. A law adopted in March 2020 requires foreign e-commerce operators, like Upwork, to begin collecting TDS on payments to service providers in India starting October 1, 2020. The amount of tax withheld is matched to the service provider by using their Permanent Account Number (PAN) or the Aadhaar number. Thank you.
