Sharing account

Can my husband and I use the same account to do work?

He wants to do some side projects on UpWork, but doesn't necessarily want his own account. I already have an account with UpWork, and would like to let him use my account. The money we both earn would end up going to the same bank account anyways so we thought that might make things easier.

You can't do that. The client must know who they are working with.

Okay, Thanks for letting me know.

You were wise to ask. Upwork will terminate freelancers accounts permanently if it catches users sharing an account.

Actually I worked with this guy and completed the first job on Upwork successfully using his account.

But now he ran away and I want to get back my money from his account.

Is it possible?

How did you think this would be acceptable?

No

Then how can I get paid for my work.

He promised to pay me but ran away with my money.

At least, that money should be returned to the client or he should be punished.

You can't. You aren't supposed to be here, you fraudulently used someone else's account, which is a violation of the terms of service and will see you removed from the platform (probably not for the first time)

Funny how you seem to be just fine with lying and cheating when it's you who is doing it, but get all morally outraged when your partner in crime cheats on you.

Oh you will both be kicked off the site, don't worry about it.

Thank you @Petra.

That's exactly what I wanted. lol

Hi Matsuda,

I would like to confirm that Upwork users are not allowed to share their accounts with other users as it is a violation of the Upwork Terms of Service. Only the registered user is allowed to access and use their account.

I have escalated this to the correct team and one of our agents will further advise you via support ticket.

Thank you!

Upwork

Okay. Thank you.

Btw, recently I saw a lot of posts complaining Upwork blocked their accounts without any reason on LinkedIn. Even some users have thousands of working history on Upwork and paid hundreds thousands dollars to Upwork as a service fee (you know 10% - 20% fee).

It means, those users just started something bad? or they have been doing something wrong so far but you guys detected them recently?

In second case, Upwork is not responsible to receive bills from those freelancers and victim clients?

Upwork also should pay back those received bills to the client or freelancers. If not, what is different from thief?

And also I don't think they all did bad things, I think Upwork uses a bot to detect suspecious activities, but their AI program is wrong.

And you guys also should be responsible to bother innocent people's income and lives by blocking their accounts.

Don't read posts on LinkedIn.
Problem solved.

Hi Matsuda,

Please check out this help article for more information about the most common reasons for the freelancer account holds.

It's like robbing a bank and then going on a public forum to complain that your co-robber didn't give you your share.
