In my opinion Upwork should stop allowing $5 hourly or below it on its platform plus strict ban of $5 gigs here. It is causing great disruption to the value this platform can offer the clients and freelancers quality wise. Please share your opinions.

There is no reason for Upwork to disallow $5.00/hour and below jobs because too many freelancers still spend Connects applying to these jobs. This benefits Upwork.
If freelancers stopped applying to $5.00/hour jobs, the $5.00/hour and lower paying jobs will eventually disappear.

Hi Ashutosh.
I agree with you. Also the quality control and quality of job posting in general has gotten progressively worse from my point of view.
I feel its foolish and short sighted of Upwork not to invest more in effective resources that improve the quality control of job posts.

Upwork wants these jobs to remain, because they've opened the floodgates to the world's cheapest and least qualified workers.... and they want these workers to be piling ontop of other other to be bidding and boosting for the pleasure of working for pennies. I would imagine that large sums of money are made a year by Upwork on Connects alone for jobs that pay sweatshop wages.
However, these jobs create the impression that Upwork is a cesspool for cheap, unskilled labor. The sheer quantitity of $5 or less jobs devalue the hard work of all the incredibly talented Freelancers on the platform.
